Stop Hating The Slingshot
This is what explosive rounds can do in the mines. You don't need your pickaxe really and this is 5 levels in under 5 minutes.

I have to admit, this is impressive.
I think I will start using the slingshot as well, together with the explosive ammo

Never mind that, how did you get a prismatic shard in the regular mines? Seriously though, I'm going to try that too. At this point, in the regular mines, none of the monsters do anything. I'm looking for quick pickups of items. That seems to do the trick.
Dodging Rain Mar 29, 2016 @ 3:27pm
You should do a comparison with the bombs compare to the material tag to them.

Cherry bomb- 4 copper ore 1 coal. Radius of 3
Bomb- 4 iron ore 1 coal. Radius of 5
Megabomb- 4 gold ore 4 solar and dark essence. Radius of 7.
Explosive Ammo- 1 ore 0.4 coal. (you craft them in 5s)

It also serves as a good mean to deliver a coup de grace to mummies.

It's main downside is that it is very dependent on layout so it lacks some versatility. It will also destroy any cave foragables. I will also say it has a "hidden" HP cost.

Overall I'd say that explosive slingshot is a good complement to picks and bombs and is very cost efficient but isn't an strictly a replacement due to the requirement of having to hit something.

I do understand why that would be helpful, but I don't craft the ammo, nor have I ever crafted a bomb. I buy the ammo from the Adventure Guild, 100/shot, so it's like 100k to get a full stack and that will go very fast in the mines. It's an expensive way to clear mines, but super fast.

Wow. Just WOW. I do believe i need to revisit a particular mechanic.

edit: Just for reference - DO NOT test mechanic on farm!!!

I mean if you've got the iron bars and coal to burn it's worth it but if you don't then it's pointless.
I suppose it might be good for the desert mine.

Buy it at the Adventure Guild for 100 a round.

Pretty nifty way of clearing.
I probably should avoid it though. After all, I managed to kill myself in the mines with simple bombs so if I add aiming to the mess... *shudders*
I find the control difficult though. I mean, moving your mouse in a circle?

Forget it, that's steep AF.
A good skull cavern run costs me 600 gold per bomb, and you'll need quite a bit to get past 60.
CondoSlime Apr 1, 2016 @ 2:11pm
I basically do a skull cave run with a catapult with at least 125 explosive ammo. and even without any stone I still can get to levels over 100. of course I waste all my ammo but damn this thing drills through stone and iridium ore. big rocks live through.

If you craft it you'll need 1x Iron Bar (5 Iron Ore) and 1x Coal (2x to count the one used for smelting), and if you buy it all from Clint, the total is 1050. That will get you 5 rounds when you craft it, which puts the unit price at 210.

Adventure Guild is far cheaper than crafting it from scratch, but if you craft it from what you find, it's free. However, I think you use more than you acquire on a typical run, so this is not a profitable method, it's only fast.
