So I found out that Abigail loves chocolate cake and I want to know how to unlock the recipes that way I don't have to waist all day in the caves looking for amethyst to give to her. Thank you to anyone who can help me out.

Unfortunately, the only way (as far as I know) to unlock the recipe for chocolate cake is from the cooking channel, but it only provides the recipe during odd-year winters (so Year 1, Year 3, etc.).

You can also occasionally find chocolate cake in trash cans around town. If, you know, you don't mind giving Abigail found cake[www.penny-arcade.com].

Alternatives:
Spelunk skull cavern rush for prismatics (only haley hates them *shakes fist*)
Spelunk the very first levels of the mines with bombs (The early portions were very prominent in amethyst drops.. without fail, every save when I first started my mines, I have gotten at least 1 amethyst. (I don't often go back to those depths to test common rate though... might just be a "you entered the mines drop chance")

give her Spicy Eel instead (which she loves) (Spicy eel drops uncommonly(but still fairly consistent) from the flying serpents in the skull cavern, recipe unlocks from George (7 hearts) (eel isn't necessarily the easiest to catch...)

Pros to Spicy Eel alternative -> Eating it yourself is really decent! it heals 115 or so energy, a decent number of hp, and gives you 1 luck and 1 foot-speed. Which are both absurdly useful when doing pretty much anything, let alone spelunking.

Grow massive fields of pumpkins in fall -> store massive reserves of pumpkins for many years -> She loves pumpkins too. (the reserves can also be tapped from to create some recipes that other people may like, or are beneficial to your progression) (dishes with Pumpkin as an ingredient (except pumpkin pie for some reason, maybe too many ingredients/dilute?) boost defense by 2 points.) (Eel (most dishes) raise luck, Spicy (most dishes) raise speed (Pepper poppers, spicy cheese filled peppers, which shane loves and early on gives you the recipe for, raise speed and farming) (which is pretty beneficial, it restores more than spicy eel does too, which is also beneficial)

Pufferfish is... Less RNG reliant, to catch, than Eel (Not easier.) ( Pufferfish is 80 difficulty, caught in summer only, but weather doesn't have to be rainy.) (Eel is 70 difficulty, caught in both spring and fall, but it HAS to be raining, which, might not happen for weeks at a time, with some people's RNG)

buy and own a LOT... A LOT of rabbits....

Every so often you'll get a rabbit's foot, which everyone loves, except Peta... I mean.. Penny.

Own an entire coop (or two) just for rabbits.


Visit Traveler/♥♥♥♥♥ cart every Fri+Sun, and Gus' Saloon Everyday
They potentially can sell Spicy Eel, Chocolate cake and Blackberry cobbler (also cooking channel) in stacks of 1-5

oh. And if you're working on the Community center bundles, Buy the bus into working order to get rewarded with a few chocolate cakes, a lightning rod, and a crystalarium (and some other stuff)

Or build your own crystalarium if you can.

Then just take an amethyst and shove it in there... Eventually get a couple of them working on amethysts for her and you'll never run out, even for a waifu version.

Honestly, if you're at a point in the game where you can keep an entire coop (or two coops) of rabbits, or doing bombing runs in the skull caverns, you're at a point in the game where you can just craft a Crystallarium and dump an Amethyst in there. It'll spit out a new one every day. Much less work.
