does marriage prevent having more than 8 hearts with other singles?
I'm married with Penny and i'm pretty sure before we got married i had 9 hearts with Leah.
i already gave her 4 times the best gift (salad) but it still stays at 8

I'm married to Elliot and I currently have 9 hearts with Penny, and I didn't give her a flower bouquet so... Just keep giving Leah gifts and you'll get all the hearts I guess :p

Giving birthday gifts allows you to go above 8 with out a flower bouquet.. You can even see 10 heart events without one.. I haven't tried to see one after marriage though but doing Penny's post marriage would probably be the funniest..

Nope, I have some single male characters at 9 hearts and I'm not romancing them since I'm straight. Just taking a really long time to get to 10 hearts.

It was stated by ConcernedApe himself as far as I remember. For an entire year both me and my fiancée had a crap load of people at 8 hearts, giving them their love items (no idea what those are actually called) every single day for over a month and nobody ever went passed 8 and it confused the crap out of us so we looked it up, that's where we learned this, gave them bouquets and they continued going up. I base is off those things. Maybe it was patched in now to be different I don't know.

You do not require the Bouquets to get people past 8. Getting a single person to 8 will unlock the bouquet and that's about it. It's not required to get anyone past 8, it's for dating and getting children.

Yes you do, you MUST give single NPCs the bouquet in order to get them to 10 hearts. This has been confirmed by the creator himself.

There is a glitch where you can give a 7 hearted single NPC a love item on their birthday meaning they will get a 2 heart boost effectively putting them at 9 but this is a glitch. Gifts no longer get you points past 8 hearts, talking does I heard but those points are so small (2 compared to the standard 80) and that takes about a whole year just to get you up one heart past 8 and I don't think this has even been confirmed yet.

Yeah, I can't get single NPCs to 10 hearts no matter how many gifts I give them. I'm just going to have to give them banquets despite not really wanting to date them. I just want that achievement dangit D:

Haha, I'm straight but actually enjoyed the way some of the gay stuff was integrated into the game and that the dialogue actually adapted itself to it. Screw Elliot though, that was borderline rape. >:U

Except it doesn't...

I have several characters that are listed Single that are up to 10 hearts and the only person I gave my bouquet too was my wife.

Sorry you can't accept that.

I haven't used any flower bouquets yet, but I somehow got Sebastian to ten hearts on his bday yesterday even though I'm aiming towards either Leah or Abigail. Could be some of the mods that I use that made the glitch happen.

Too bad there's not an option to say no to a kiss except with Leah or Penny, in the bathhouse. Forget who.
