Squid, which is apparently perfect for practical jokes. Octopus will be my new favorite though if I ever catch one.

Carp and most of the super easy catch fish. They seem to have a treasure chest with them most times I get em (presumably because they're so common) and it's a piece of cake getting the treasure.

So it usually becomes a game of "what's in the box". I love getting treasure.

But I'm sad when there's no treasure box and all I do is watch the thing barely move at the bottom of the fishing bar.

It's a real storm of emotions with those things.

Seriously, though, how do people find the fishing minigame difficult? I must have caught over 500 fish by now, and maybe around 15 have gotten away. Do people not know about the Trap Bobber tackle?

When I still needed fish, I liked the most expensive for the easiest catch for the season, so nothing really specific. If i really had to choose one, maybe lingcod since it's still a surprise when a fish fights back a bit lol.

Hands down, the glacierfish has given me the most trouble. I fished all winter trying to catch that fish, it became my white whale. Finally, on the 20th of my first winter in Stardew Valley....I reeled it in. SUCCESS! On another note, I feel the wiki is wrong. I caught Legend first try. Maybe RNGesus was on my side that day, but seriously, it didn't even hold a candle to the glacierfish.

Also, I like catching pike ^_^. I also enjoy catch pike irl ;).

I admit that I initially found fishing very frustrating (and Prairie King even moreso), but once I got the hang of it, I enjoyed it reasonably well. Given my interest in the cooking aspect of the game, I'm naturally in favor of any fish that works well in a dish. :D So, basically Salmon, Squid (there's no way in, well, anything that I'd ever eat this in real life or the snails), Largemouth Bass, etc.

And just to point out... you guys do remember the days of having a measly fishing skill of 1, right? And a rod that did not allow bait/tackle? I don't know about you, but I had the strangely bad/good luck to end up with having a high level fish struggle with plently of failure thrown in an absurdly high amount of time early on. It's hard to train your reflexes to judge things on something new like that when you're thrown in the deep end.

Honestly I thought the fishing was incredibly hard at first. I know CA doesn't want to change the fishing and is really proud of it, but I think maybe with the first rod it should only be able to catch easier fish? Because I know I was hooking a lot of higher difficulty fish at first and it was really aggravating because they are pretty much impossible to catch without a higher fishing level + a trap bobber.
Once I got to a higher fishing level just catching easy fish like carp, it became A LOT more easier.

Only fish I have left to catch is the Legend one ^^
