Iridium pickaxe is very good, breaks the toughest common rocks in a single hit and big rocks in three hits, very nice. Gold pick is just about as good.
Iridium hoe drastically speeds up the time it takes to till large areas of soil, and drastically reduces energy consumption. gold is 3x3, iridium is 6x3, making it twice as fast as gold.
Iridum axe is the least priority, but great to have nonetheless. Felling a tree in two hits and finishing its stump in another one hit is fantastic. Breaks large stumps in three hits too.
Can't go wrong with Iridium!
The gold axe destroyes trees quickly, but you know what? The Iridium axe destroys them faster. If you have to clear out a large amount of trees, the Iridium axe will cost less energy, and will get the job done in less time.
Yeah, sprinklers. Iridium sprinklers. That need Iridium.
I spend the first 2 weeks of every season tilling my farm. The iridium hoe makes you basically till soil twice as fast as the gold hoe.
It's also the most expensive ore, and sells for more than diamonds once refined, even if you have that skill that makes gems worth more. If nothing else, it's a big boost in income.
On an extra note, there are also quite a few machines that require Iridium. That's just one more use for it.
Also, purple tools, yes please.
Useless? No.
Absolutely necessary, especially depending on playstyle/goals? No.
Iridium watering can and hoe is 7x3* :)
Nevermind , its 6x3. im just stupid. I was thinking since its one more than the iron one, then i remembered the iron one is only 5x1.
Definitely. And the axe is really good, gold axe is 4 chops a tree, Iridium is just 2! Are you sure Iridium is 7x3? It must have been updated because it has been 6x3 for the longest time!
Iridium pickaxe, oh yes! Saves so much time.
Axe -- fell trees in 3 hits -- necessary.
Watering can -- not necessary, since iridium sprinklers blanket my fields, but good for ensuring concurrent growth of super-big-enabled crops like pumpkins, melons, and cauliflower.
Scythe, mining pan... not so necessary... :P
If someone is mostly using the greenhouse + a couple outside crop plots and that's it, not exactly a necessity then.
I only have about 600 crop tiles, but I do know what you mean. I'm still using the gold hoe, however, and just till/plant the longer taking crops first day and the rest the next day. I'm a little pokey about everything...and now that I finally have the greenhouse, I may reduce my crops, since money isn't a problem.
Edit: these steam-default smiley's are fugly. I should stick to text ones.
I'm not arguing with anyone here: I am merely answering the OP, and giving an example of my own playstyle. If s/he doesn't have 1k plots to till, then obviously they may not need iridium. (And perhaps they've not reached endgame yet... as is pretty obvious by the initial message :-)
For a long time I was wondering how people were getting away with practically zero outdoor crops, when it came to their fields of kegs. I thought the greenhouse wasn't enough to account for it. But now that I have a greenhouse, and more cash/crops (from initially growing so many pre-greenhouse) than I know what to do with, I have a better idea.
...btw, I am envious of your kitty icon. Not being a Steam-user who does all the stuff to get such, I'm forever cute-icon-less. :( ... :)
Iridum axe is nice to 3 chop trees + their stump... but really, by the time you can have it its much more cost effective to just buy wood than spend the time chopping trees
Iridium watering can is again totally useless... so easy to have 30+ iridium sprinklers and a farm of a few hundred if not thousand plots
Iridium pickaxe is pretty much a necessity if you do any caves... and on a 3+ luck day that is a good 500k day which is pretty beastly
Indeed, the greenhouse is a mountain of cash. (I have mine full of ancient fruit). Just growing stuff outside to power-get the 10m achieve.
There are a couple of ways to get emoticons -- one is to create a badge by collecting all of the cards for a specific game, and then crafting -- you are guaranteed one emoticon, though it is a random one.
However, for me it's easier to buy the emoticons on the Steam Marketplace. (I have a significant collection of emoticons). (Add money to your Steam wallet, and then you have purchasing power!)
At the top of the Steam browser, you go to Community -> Market, then find the "Search for Items" line. Type "Stardew Valley emoticon", (no quote marks).... and it should show you all available.
There are other lovely cats as well... http://steamtradingcards.wikia.com/wiki/Emoticons:Cats
(Feel free to friend me/send a PM, and I'd be happy to help!)
(BTW, money added to your Steam Wallet can be used for anything on Steam -- games, etc. so it doesn't go to "waste" even if you spend a few cents on emoticons.)
The axe and watering can less so, but still nice upgrades and well worth it.
Iridium bars doesn't have that much use anyways except for Iridium sprinklers and tbh you can do just fine with quality sprinklers instead.
