While walking, look for little worms on the ground. Hit 'em with the Hoe, and there's a chance a book will pop out.

"A worm tile"
"Using the Hoe on worm tiles. Different parts of the map will drop different artifacts. These locations are much more common in winter."
When asked about in in the ConcernedApe AMA someone asked: Are they worms or stems?
ConcernedApe said: Yes.
Aww look the kid has the cute farming game <3 <3 :3
We avin a fight ere boys?
tbh I think the dev forgot what they were halfway through. Likely called worms in the code, which is where a lot of the wiki comes from, but described as stems in the text ingame.
That is called: In-game NPC's don't know what they are either. :P
In the game files are outfits for weddings and the flower dance, more NPCs, rivals of both genders, all sorts of stuff.
