Gold Star Scropion fish & Sandfish

For total nerdish reasons I collect gold star fish. Having trouble catching the desert fish with gold star. Best I can seem to get is silver star. Is there any special trick to it?

This is my situation:
Of course my fishing level is 10, +3 from food if I want. Iridium Rod, normal bait and Linus bait tried, every kind of tackle tried. Tried every hex casting in between the "shiny patches" in the oasis. Tried Spring, Summer and Fall but I doubt season has any impact.

If anyone has managed please explain the exact circumstances in which you succeeded. Better even with screenshots.

As far as I've managed as well is Silver star, in the very centre of the lake.

I don't think it's impossible, I'm quite sure I remember getting a gold star sandfish once, but the problem is not your method, is the size of the lake, you can't get gold star in such a small amount of water, the distance from the shore needs to be higher than that lake allows you.

Yeah, I figured the lake was too small for the mechanics to allow gold stars.
Well, that sounds like a bug then.
