For me I always have as many plants as I can manually water as possible with a full energy bar and whatever sprinklers I have are EXTRA on top of what I can manually water, thus the can is never useless for me until I have enough iridium sprinklers to cover every crops I can handle per season.
Well it does affect your playstyle and the aesthetics of your farm I suppose. Aesthetically speaking, some people might not want their design scheme to be shaped around sprinklers. This and the steel/iridium upgrades make watering fairly simple. A Steel Can waters 5 in a line and an Iridium Watering Can can water a 6x3 area (18 Squares).
+foraging increase amount of berries from bushes. IIRC at Foraging level 8 you will get 3 berry and at lvl 12 - four.
+movement speed - you should always bee under this effect, so buy a lot of coffee)
+luck - use it when you go into Mines\Skull Cavern, fishing or artifact digging.
