Pig looks sad

So I've had a pig for a couple of weeks now. I've talked to it every day (getting the heart icon) it has food, and I let it outside during sunny days. Any idea why it looks sad? Is there anything else you need to do for pigs to make them happy?

If you right click it and it shows a heart, it's happy. It won't look any happier than that.

Sorry should have been more clear the text that described their well being said "(his name can't remember) looks sad"

I'm not sure as I haven't owned one, but perhaps its lonely? Maybe get a second one?

Are there any other animals in the barn, if there are how's their happiness? Do you close the hatch for night (sometimes that seems to have effect on some animals)?

Only goats don't like the door being open at night. If they have food daily, are pet daily and go outside daily I don't see why. Unless it's winter and they don't have a heater?

I have four pigs, and all of them also described as "[name] looks sad" too. I'm currently in Summer 2nd year, deluxe barn (so food dispenses automatically), I right click them everyday, and still don't know what makes them sad....

How much space to they have to roam outside? Do they have grass to eat? I don't know if open space makes a difference, but I do know that animals vastly prefer to eat grass over hay and will get sad if they go too long without it (except in winter when they seem to know that fresh grass just ain't happening).

That might just be the case since I have no grass left by the time Fall has come. Also, I noticed that, for some reason, hay sometimes were not dispensed in my deluxe barn when I left the barn door open over night. Since I've started closing the barn door everynight, my barn animals look just fine now.
