Wood Shortage?
(lololol dat title tho)
I seem to have accidentally exhausted most of the game of trees, and am in sore need of wood. Are there any places I might be missing where I can get a decent amount? I've been trying to let trees grow back on the farm itself, but am having difficulty finding other ways of obtaining more without buying it.

Have you been clearing the forest south of your farm regularly? But yes having a small wood farm on your farmland can help.

I have been, yes. Same issue with that as well, I'm in the process of letting some of the trees grow back since I'm running really low on wood resources.

If you're in serious need for wood, Robin sells wood at her shop.

Just to be clear, when you cut trees you are not leaving the stump, are you? Several people (myself included) believed that leaving the stump would let the tree grow back shortly after release, but that has since been proven false.

Yeah I know Robin sells it, I just don't want to buy 500+ wood that way.

I just saw the suggestion about leaving the stump and was going to try it; I guess it doesn't work anyway? No I've been cutting all the stumps too like an idiot.

i have a section of my farm land for trees. replant them if you have any plantable items for them.

I might be doing it wrong, but everytime I try to plant a pine/maple/oak tree it tells me it's the wrong season no matter what season it is?

I have too many trees on my farm, they take up valuable space that could be used for growing grass. And then they drop seeds all over the place.

I suppose it's different if you first start the game and go on a tree felling rampage.

No, you want to cut the stumps. They don't grow back, they give 3 wood, and if you cut them out then you clear space for new trees. If you leave them then there's no room for new trees or grass - also very important - to grow. You will never run out of wood if you practice good forest management; i.e. cut one portion for supplies but always leave another portion growing. All those little sprouts that pop up - leave them. They're new trees and you should let them grow for the next batch of wood harvesting. They respawn constantly on your farm so you'll never run out if you manage them correctly. (Note: it's very easy to cut brand new saplings by using the scythe to clear grass, so be careful about not taking out all your new trees when you're cutting grass.)

I was like that too which is why I got rid of them, haha! I mean I'm going on year 3 and would really like to update the farm buildings.

Are you trying to plant on tilled soil? That's usually the message you get when trying to do that.
Saya Mar 22, 2016 @ 5:54pm
...I am. I will definitely try without.

Yes, trees can't be planted in tilled soil. Be them fruit trees or the other ones.

you can chop down the trees in the desert, just be sure to take out stumps to allow the trees to grow back, if want to get trees on farm just plant acorns/mape/pine all over your farm, don't try in tilled soil.

I realize this is an old thread but thank you for that suggestion, I never thought to try the desert. I am running out of wood and the trees I have planted are too young yet.
