Cows and chickens not giving milk/eggs daily?
I feed,
pet,
let them outside and do everything to make them happy, but 2-4 of them still sad and don't give me anything. Am I doing something wrong? Or they're supposed to be like that?

Does the game say they are grumpy? Or they just don't lay eggs/give milk? If it's the later it's normal. If it's the formal it's not. If the game doesn't say they are thin, they have enough food. If it's winter, do they have a heater?

I noticed in Winter they do not give production regularly.. My animals are petted, fed, and have a heater. Chickens and ducks seem most effected by winter.. Oh and they have full hearts.

My goat is sometimes sad for no apparent reason. It might have something to do with closing the hatch for night/rain/winter/godknowswhat, or it might not.

And most of my cows have milk on most days, but not always, sometimes they have milk many days in a row and then again not.

Animals are strange.

Cows not producing eggs and chickens not providing milk?! Absolutely unacceptable!

Sadly, animals have their good and bad days just like us. Catch em in a good mood and they'll provide the goods. Oh and warmth plays a big role too. :D

No no, they're not grumpy, and they have everything. But according to what you guys are saying, I guess it's normal they do not produce goods every day. Well, I think so.

It's a shame, really, considering you have the option of building a gigantic ranch if you really want to. Animals are unfortunately a rather poor investment in this game I've noticed.

Yeah, sometimes you won't get anything from the animals. Completely normal. :)
Make sure they have fresh grass to eat outside to make them more happy. :)

Yeah. it's difficult to get used when you come from the harvest moon series, where animals are practically a gold well.

Honestly I have found that later game (once you have ducks and goats) they are actually not bad, especially if you don't have the ancient seeds yet, or if you don't have the resources to mass produce them or the wine.

Duck Mayo sells for 300, and Gold Goat Cheese sells for 450. Not comparable to ancient fruit, but not terrible either. These prices go up more if you have the Artisan skill.

They are for sure not the gold mine they are in HM, but not nearly as bad as people think either.

I've noticed that in Winter my animals didn't produce every day, but I never encountered an issue during the other seasons as long as I remembered to feed and pet them every day.

So I'm doing something wrong. Maybe forgetting to close the door when it's night.

I may be mistaken, but I remember reading in game that goat gave only every other day, not everyday like the cow.

Concerning the topic, none of my animals give daily : they sometimes skip a day randomly.

This is my problem. Animals are fed, they're happy, I pet them every day, they have a heater. Still randomly my cows and chickens will not produce milk or eggs. They're not going outside at all (given that it's winter).

Is there an age thing where production slows down?

In real life. Behavior like that from animals would not be tolerated.
I've noticed this too.
Only my Dinosaur, Sheep, Rabbit, and Ducks are producing in Winter.
My Goats, Cows, and Chickens are not.
