Angler or Pirate?
Which do you think is better? I just hit level 10 in fishing and I honestly think that Angler is better. While finsing treasure could be nice depending on what's in it there is still no gurantee that you will find treasure, but odds are you will catch some fish, and then you will make 50% more gold.

Pirate is decent for getting some artifacts sooner.. but once those are collected and donated it becomes significantly less useful than a permanent +25% (+50% total) g earned for all of your fishing income.

I went for Pirate, just because I'm trying to complete the museum and many of the artifacts can be found in fishing chests and also fishing isn't my primary source of money.

I went pirate, sometimes I get lucky and get gems like diamonds and also iridium ores

Arr matey.

I'd say that pirate is your best bet. I got angler and regret it. Late game, money won't matter, but the last artifacts can be very hard to find and you can get them from chests while fishing.

THat's a good point. Once I have all the stuff I need from treasure chests it will be worth more to get the guranteed gold.

It's really not worth it. Read Hurodrik's response. He's spot on. There are tons of other ways to make money but many of the harder to get artifacts, need to be fished for, so the extra chance is extremely worth it.

This does make sense, but I am also still in my first year, so gold is still extremely important to me. Even with the extra chance at getting treasure chests (which I get quite frequently as is) there is nothing to gurantee that I get the item I need (If I get one more stone from a treasure chest I'm going to cry). But with the extra gold I can open up even more free time because I don't have to spend as much time watering crops as I otherwise would to get the gold I need, and in the winter when there is really no way to make a ton of gold other than fishing (which I find is much better than mining) I can make even more, and be ready for the next season.

If you fix the greenhouse, plant cranberries in it, and then put sprinklers in it, you'll by set for life money-wise.

I totaly suggest Pirate. I have chose Angler but I found out during end-game time most of money doesn't come from fishing but something else. Angler basicly useless for me after I acquired green house and plant ancient fruits in it.

You'd then be chosing between a short or long term reward. I'm currently almost on my third winter and I have all the time and money in the world, with my ancient fruit wine manufacturing. But I still lack many artifacts.

This.

To expand on this, I'm in year 3 and have the greenhouse. I make around 40-50k from a harvest and about 2-3k on a good day fishing.

It's a tough choice, I won't deny it.. but the amount of gems I can get while mining is far greater than anything I can find in a fishing chest. As I said once you have the artifacts, which zero (0) of are exclusive to fishing chests, and the chests still have a good rate to appear anyway - then pirate is basically useless. Angler remains useful for the rest of your farming carreer and whether it becomes less useful to have maximum cash late-game or not doesn't really matter when you still want that Total Earnings to be as high as possible the further you're in your play through.

Edit: Also, even the OP would apparently be finding a use for the extra money at his stage of the game and seems to be less concerned about artifacts and more about making money.

Overall verdict: Both are good choices with good advantages - Angler is more profitable.

While that's true, some do more commonly spawn in fishing chests, as opposed to the dig spots.
