I didn't get the point of any of those scenes at all. They add literally nothing.
I always figured it was porn of some kind, as one of the choices is about advising him to tell his wife about it.
I saw something like that, yes. Always assumed he was studying the local flora, as he seems to be some sort of bothanist/biologist.
It adds immersion, you get to know the chars better, see them diferently, in different situations than just talking to them in their daily routines, it makes the game feel more alive.
Also in that scene i chose to keep it secret, mayor just goes like "Thanks, ill never forget it"
Thing is, they don't really do that I feel. The dinner at Jody for example. It sets itself up as a scene that leads to some character development for Jodi, Sam and Vincent. Instead the scene kinda blacks out after 3-4 lines and you're outside again.
He then goes to the bar trash, bar owner catches him, awkwardness, then bar owner is all "Bro I don't want to see anyone in town hungry, have these *Gives him basket of eggplant fritters or something* ", tells him to use the spicy marinara and to ask him if he ever needs food.
Weed, maybe?
Sure.
Whatever.
Neither of them are married. Jas isn't related to Marnie at all. Jas was the daughter of Shane's friends who passed away, he was named her godfather, and Marnie is his Aunt.
The reason Lewis doesn't want it getting out, at least the reason he gives is that it would undermine his job. He is the mayor and part of his job is working with the local bussiness owners and making any potential official town decisions that might affect them one way or the other. If it came out that he was sleeping with one of said business owners that could be viewed as bias and create the belief that he might be giving her preferential treatment as far his offical duties as mayor goes. It
Except it is a thing. Like how Lewis makes rounds among the local business' or how he sells your goods for you in the middle of the night (which logically speaking he would do for everyone). It's pretty clear that being mayor has responsibilities even if we don't see them. Plus there's no way you are the only business they get as if that was the case they would have gone out of business well before you arrived. It only appears like you are their only business due to the technical/time limitations of having a one person developer making the game on his own.
Pierre not only maintains a shop that stays open 6 or 7 days a week despite not selling anything that needs restocking often (basic cooking ingredients), he's also a farmer who grows produce. Who knows how that's even possible. And why the produce doesn't show up in his shop's inventory. Or where he grows it. It would make more sense if Caroline managed the small shop while he farmed, but apparently that's not how it works.
Marnie raises animals; at the very least, she's got lots of chickens, some goats and some cows. However, she never sells any animal products, only equipment that would be used by competitors. It's like owning a pancake restaurant that produces pancakes but doesn't sell the pancakes and instead sells pancake-making equipement so that people don't need to buy pancakes from a restaurant. It's completely insane.
The Saloon is the only place that should honestly make a decent amount of gold given how heavily frequented it is and how expensive the stuff is.
Willy sells fishing equipment, but not a lot of villagers fish and they probably don't buy a lot of stuff at his shop. Presumably he makes his living selling the fish that he catches, but again, none ever appear in his shop's inventory.
Clint opens geodes and upgrades farming tools. He doesn't offer smelting services but instead gives furnace blueprints to people. He must not get a whole lot of business.
Robin's a carpenter. Not sure how much business she gets.
Harvey's clinic looks like it barely ever has any business besides annual check-ups. He's lucky there are only 112 days in a year.
Somehow these people manage to pay enough taxes to fund a library and museum.
Basically, this town was designed by a crazy person.
