a) Raising your fishing level (total amount caught is what raises this)
b) Eating food that boosts fishing
c) Using bobbers
There are no bloody tips for fishing in this game lol You are either good, or you arent. There really is no middle ground :D How is it possible to teach anyone how to click rapidly?
I've attempted to give out tips a couple times, to varying degrees of detail and success.
...Though my main issue with giving tips is the lack of details people give for why they find it hard.
There ARE a few things that I think most people don't immediately understand though, like the fact the green bar has momentum and the occasional misunderstanding of where you want the fish to be. (you want it inside of the green bar. The tutorial says "behind" the bar, which could mean several things, so I understand making that mistake, particularly since the texture for the fish is actually on top of the green bar lol.)

Tips for controlling the bar: Remember that it has momentum. It'll continue going up or down based off how long you held/released the button, even after you stop holding/start holding it.
For this reason, you shouldn't hold the button down for longer than ~1/2 - 1 full second unless the fish "Darts" to the top or bottom. You should also slightly hold, then rapidly click around the 1/4 - 1/3 point when going all the way to the bottom in order to decrease momentum and prevent it from repeatedly bouncing.
Tips for increasing fishing level: First 2-3 levels should be done by catching junk in the pond on your farm - this will allow you to skip actually fishing during the levels that catching even the simplest fish is difficult. (Tip: Keep the junk. you can turn it into useful stuff later.)
Once you're at 3-4, IMO some of the best places to fish are: Ocean at night during Halibut seasons (when the only things you can really catch are Halibut and super cucumbers.) as Halibut generally barely move from the bottom of the bar. Lake in front of the mine or the river in town if doing daytime fishing or it's raining/non-halibut season/weather. Of course, if you personally find halibut difficult to catch, try fishing in other areas. Ocean fishing generally seems slightly harder during most seasons, but still far easier than rare fish, so I suggest starting to fish there only once you can reliably catch stuff. As said earlier though, try it out if you're having difficulties in other places, because the patterns for the fish just might be easier for you, personally. (There's also the seasons where 90% of what you catch in the ocean is sardines and anchovies, which generally seem fairly easy to catch.)
Clicking rapidly won't do anything in the fishing mini game to start with. The bar moves based on holding the key down tapping it is only useful when you are trying to maintain a height and even then it's more measured tapping not rapid.
This is exactly why you cant give tips. What I said, I do, and it works for me, very well. Trying to teach another my method is almost impossible. You can't honestly believe you telling me clicking rapidly wont do anything, when I can tell you that it does. Conflicting tips.
