The in-game description says "Sow in fall. Takes all season to grow." In this context, that means to plant it in the ground in the fall. There are four seasons in a year, so it's talking about taking all Fall to grow. If something were to take Spring/Summer/Fall to grow, it would say something like "Sow in spring. Takes all year to grow."
The in-game description couldn't be more accurate without telling you explicitly to plant it on the first day of Fall.
