A slight realism mod
I know the game is super casual, but sometimes I feel like some things are missing and they're slowly taking me out of the experience. Like not having to pay taxes, no supply/demand for produce, no need to eat or drink etc.

I want to suggest a few ideas for a mod, if it's even possible for anyone to do this:
-the energy bar fills only a little by sleeping, so you have to at least eat something every day when you wake up.
-every 7 days you have to pay taxes, this can be done by adding another bar at the end of the 7th day which takes money away from you, alongside the ones that give you money. If the player can't pay, the following day will show the money ballance with a minus.
-spamming produce lowers their value. This can be a hidden stat that the player can eventually see if take a look at their profits. This stat should reset every year.
-some wolf encounters at night outside of town can be added. Or we can just assume the valley is a quiet, safe place and leave it at that.
-not suggesting to remove the ridiculous notion of crops growing more than once, or faster than they usually should. The game has magic in it, so yeah.

I'm sure there's a ton more things to add/ballance, maybe you guys can suggest some more and maybe a tallented person can code some things in, just saying.

Pretty neat idea. Kinda wish there was a "hard" mode in the game, and that these features could have been included.

+1 for taxes. I think that'd be really cool. Even if it's just a monthly tax or something.

with taxes, what if its dept that the land has accumulated over the years no ones been there? say 100k, 250k or something like that, and you must pay a certain amount each season (10-20k? maybe 5k for the first spring and summer?). this would be a good time to also include a bank for storing money and where you can pay a larger chunk of said dept (perhaps with interest on stored money every year?)

Great ideas, I like all of them, especially the idea of crop spamming being discouraged. Right now I grow a variety of crops just for immersion and cooking recipes + requests, but it would be cool if the obvious best option wasn't just to fill every tile with blueberries/cranberries/starfruit etc.

I think there is tax mod out already.

Another thing to mention - how is it no one ever gets sick or has some kind of disease in this game? You'd think with all the cherry blossom trees and the bunnies/butterflies, there'd be at least some allergy or disease transmitted to you. But I guess we're just that lucky.

(Unless I just haven't seen it yet, which I highly doubt.)

A bank would be awesome!

+ 1 to bank, taxes and to having to eat!

I personally wouldn't want taxes, but I'd go for an oversupplying thing. Make it so that Pierre keeps everything you sell him until the season ends. So if he initially pays, say, 100 for a blueberry, when he has 500 blueberries in his shop, he only pays you 10-20 each. And items should be worth more out of season too. But for a true realism mode, you'd have to sell fish ASAP, and keep food in the fridge. Fruit must be sold or become jelly/juice/wine, or else it'll spoil. Stuff like that.

Maybe add some "diseases" from combat or lack of eating. Must eat food at least once every 3 days, or you start the day with lower energy. If you get "slimed" in the mines too much, you get sick, and start each day with reduced health, or sleep in an extra hour or two.

Also add a Cartel that runs drugs in the Valley and at times you're forced to either give them XX product or money or they will hurt you or thrash your Farm...

This game is fun, quit trying to turn into another Dark Souls/Slash ridicously hard game

I suggested a few things to make the game feel more immersive. You are just exagerating for no reason.

I like the idea of a mechanic that rewards the player for producing a variety of goods. Also, some extra reason to cook food would be good, as well, but it would have to be balanced in a way so as to not ruin the early game.

I think it very unfair that Lewis collects taxes from the other town buisinesses except yours, so +1 to a tax mod or just adding taxes as an option in the game.

Eating or drinking I'm on board with, but perhaps a slowly depleting energy bar would be better as opposed to simply requiring food at certain times.

Supply and demand I'm not so sure about. This would require an advanced algorythm running in the background, as well as algorythms for Pierre's and Jo Jo Mart to determing thier buy/sell prices as well. Props to concerned ape for this game, but nothing he's done so far in it has come anywhere close to the math neccessary to make this work. Not saying he can't, but that it would seem out of place in the game's simplistic world.
What might be good is if you started out with a diminished energy bar (like 75%) that increases whenever you consume ANY food (including forage and raw veggies), but the food would affect both the duration and magnitude of how much your energy bar increases (for example, a nutritional meal would increase it for 3 days or something, and a filling meal would increase it to 125% or something like that)

Maybe also, each food could offer not only provide instant healing, but also very slow HP regeneration that's similar to the energy effects provided by food (for example foods with more protein would help to repair your body's damage from combat) -- but to balance that out, perhaps sleeping would only partially fill your HP bar if you are not being regenerated by foods. This would mean if you want to do heavy dungeon diving you'd need foods and higher-value foods would be more useful than forage and raw veggies because it would regenerate your HP more.

Yeah, or like some kind of like expert mode where you have things like soil pH, nitrogen content, and you gotta do things like crop rotation and add fertilizer to prevent crop spoilage.
