What I *tried* to do was stop the .exe of the game immediately after dying. I did not let the sequence complete and, within 3 or so seconds I was able to kill the game process. When I re-loaded the game, it started on the day that I died (rather than the next day) and my inventory was still gutted.
I lost my iron axe.
Then it should be returned to you on the morning of the next day.
Thanks for the info. So you only lose stuff you picked up in the mines?
I had my axe because I picked it up on the way to the mine. Where is Stardew's save data?
No, you can lose anything currently in your inventory, as far as I know. The game returning your tools only works for the base ones (axe, scythe, hoe, pickaxe, watering can) as something the dev added post launch as a "safety net" because people were losing their tools and there was no way to buy new ones, potentially breaking the game for them.
I did save the backup. When I start the next day, I don't get my axe back.
