In all seriousness it takes like 2 weeks (4 gifts the likes/loves) to get there anyways. Plus getting her up to 3 gives you recipes in the mail, so either way your going to have to do it at one point anyways if your going for all the achievements etc.

I think you encountered a bug. Any time I tried to enter that room I would get the message prompt that said I needed to befriend her before entering her room, regardless of whether or not she was in the building.
