Greenhouse Layout?
Has anyone got a Greenhouse layout that just consists of Iridium Sprinklers? I will have enough Ancient Seeds by Winter to devote the Greenhouse to them so that's my plan currently and want to have it functioning properly without going through trial and error digging up stuff and so on

You wont be able to do it with just Iridium Sprinklers as it will leave a lot of spaces empty. The trick is to put some quality sprinkers next to, but not on the dirt. I'll get a screenshot:

Where you see a spot between the kegs, I have a quality sprinkler there. Not the most efficient set up since I use more sprinklers than I needed, but I did make it look rather nice.

Edit: My chests and seedmakers are under the tool bar, unfortunately.

(EDIT: ^Wow.. so thats an eye opener for me, lol.
I didn't realise you could place sprinklers on sufaces other than dirt...

why didn't I try!?)

I just have the second tier sprinklers running, raking in 96 ancient fruits each harvest leaving the bottom row for whatever, which needs to be watered manually.
I would eventually like to put irridium sprinklers in there though but those are my current numbers.

This seems like a good layout, I think I'll follow this

I believe a real layout should contain fruit trees?

Why? Do they give fruit every day regardless of season in the greenhouse? Even if they do that's far less money than growing ancient fruit.

They do, but there's no "real" layout, it's up to you to decide how you want to plan your greenhouse. Beravin decided not to have fruit trees.

Thanks for the info. I agree there is no "real" layout. I thought that part of Hentai's post was odd.

Because suposedly you can also plant them on non dirt patches, around the edges. Basically they would go where your outside edge kegs are. Citation needed.

Yup, his sprinkler layout is the most efficiant. Only 4 spots taken in the field for sprinklers. I use it myself and have a greenhouse full of ancient fruit plants. Every single tile you can plant on is full of em. I have over 100 kegs, I make between 300k-400k every time I harvest my wine. Life is good lol

Oh, well if that's true then that changes things. But kind of sounds like a bug or an oversight.

To be honest, and in my opinion, that is actually a pretty large waste of the greenhouse, and if you break down the math of it all, it actually brings in less money than some other crops do.

Amount of time/resources spent doing the ancient fruit fields actually yields less income than doing fields of regular crops.

Blueberries = 100g per unit. 25 BB bushes can yield upto 50 blueberries.

50 x 100 = 5000

A bottle of ancient fruit wine, takes 6 days to cure in the keg, on top of 6 days to grow in the greenhouse at minimum.

That is roughly 115,000 gold every 12 days with this layout.

With the same amount of space taken by ancient fruit as blueberries, you would get 120 bushes, which can yield upto 240 Blueberries.

240 x 100 = 24,000 x 6 crop outs = 144,000

Both methods include the same amount of work, but the blueberries require harvesting more often.

Ancient Fruit requires an initial setup time of making seeds as well. So you cannot start making a huge operation for a little bit of time. Say 24 days before you have any real amount of seeds.

I'm sorry, but your numbers are wrong in almost every area. Blueberries are 80 per berry not 100 and give 3 per bush, not 2.

116 (usable tiles) * 80 * 3 = 27,800 per harvest every 4 days.

Ancient Fruit are 750 per, so 87,000 per harvest every 7 days.

Wine triples your price, with another 50% on top of that with the artisan skill. 87k * 3 * 1.5 = 391,500. That's not every 12 days, because your plants don't stop growing while you are making wine.

To those theory crafting, you need to realize that I am in winter and have made over 300 ancient fruit seeds to plant all over my farm during spring. Considering I won't have to buy more seeds and can be completely lazy and just harvest stuff, I am more than happy with my set up :P
