I can't get past 2 hearts with Elliot
I've been giving Elliot gifts every week, talking to him everyday. I mostly give him fruit or seashells and flowers if I can find them. I can't really find him crabcakes or diamonds since thats what he loves. He likes my gifts though, but the thing isn't going past two hearts despite a recent event a few days ago. Do I HAVE to give Elliot things he loves to get past two hearts? What do I do?

If you have been giving him stuff he don't care about, the hearts won't increase. It might even decrease.

Fruit and shells aren't really on his list of liked/loved items; unless you're giving him lobster, squid or octopus.

i dont have that kinda money or patience to fish a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lobster for a guy who wont cut his hair

Lobster is easy to get. Just use crab pot.

I get the "marvelous" response giving him coffee. They all pretty much like coffee.

If lobster are out of question, try duck feathers instead? A massive investment, but it'll be worth it, since you'll get his favorite for free..... when the time comes anyway

Raise some duck of course. Not so sure about when, but you'll get it soon enough, if you start raise one

To be honest, this sounds like a glitched Elliot to me.
I've done nothing but give him coffee and salads and currently he has 5 hearts. This is without talking to him every day.

One does not need to give the top "love" gifts to raise hearts - those just progress it to max faster/in less time. It's all point based, apparently (give enough acceptable gifts and/or talk to reach 250 pts = a heart).

I think even the "neutral" ones + talking to him fairly often would raise it, just even slower.

Edit: if he's glitched, I don't know if he can unglitch, unless a reload helped.

The duck feather for me was a pretty rare drop. I'd go for the lobster instead. Or parsnips and cheese. Those are easy to get. Maybe try for the feather and save it for his birthday.

Parsnips would probably work.

But not everyone has barns/cows or raised their fishing high enough for the crabpots etc.

Parsnip and cheese are good gift, not the best one, but it'll do. I still suggest coop way. Brought duck, if you have extra money, brought rabbit as well. Rabbit foot recognized as global best gift. Means almost every citizens accept it as the best. Well except penny
