Museum - Any tips for completion?

I'm very far into the game with little left to do. I have about 6-8 slots for the museum left to find but I've cracked opened every geode, artefact trove, dug up soil in caves and mines, killed my way through every creature in my way and in the last 20-30 hours of gameplay, I haven't found a single new artefact.

Are there any tricks as it's getting on my nerves now.

Something is indeed missing since they haven't unlocked the "A Complete Collection" achievement. It's a bit tricky to know exactly what you are missing since I don't know what you have found. But one thing that usually comes late for me is the Rare Disc. It can be dropped from several monsters (bats, shadow brutes and shamans and spiders) but I usually get one through Artifact Throves and one time I think I got one from fishing as well.

If you don't mind, and since you have already spent so much time trying to solve it you can go through these lists to see what you might be missing:

it's not so much "what am I missing" as "whats the most efficient method to finding it". Am I best going to mines or getting as many artefact troves as possible or cracking geodes..? What gives me the best percentage odds of finding the last bit(s)?

You are kidding, right? That is exactly why it depends on what you have already found... Which we don't know.

Although I feel the "You are kidding, right" attitude was unnecessary, you have made me realise something I didn't, which is that artefacts are tied to specific areas and creatures. I thought they were totally random so thanks!

Fair enough. I didn't mean anything ill by it but I see your point. It's just that without further details the best answer you could have gotten was to keep mining, cracking geodes, fishing, hoe:ing artifact spots and botching monsters. Which I felt would not have been that helpful and especially since you have already spent so many hours trying to find what you are missing. I hope you will be able to finish the collection now!

After all that, I was about to go and concentrate on the correct areas/creatures to find the missing artefact but decided to break down my last few troves/geodes and lo and behold, I get the final piece. Randomly. It's done! Yay!
