Can I get rid of my dog?

I hate how its always in the way. At least with the other animals I can go through it. Why does the dang dog even have a collision box and can't walk over/through it?

At least with a real dog, by the 23rd time you step on it, it starts to get out of the way.

I vaguely recall being able to change pet type via text editing your save file. There's quite few things you can change in your saved game via this method which is neat. However the most i personally did with this was just renaming my horse.

So you might aswell check out one of the tutorials online how to do it and change your dog into a cat.

Since (just like in real life) cats are way less annoying than dogs in this game ^^

As Alucard said, other than editing your save file i don't think you can get rid of your pet.

if you're open to modding you could use

which has the option to toggle collision.

if you want to stay vanilla you could put fences around the outside area with the bowl creating a kind of "kennel" that it cannot leave by itself. this way you can keep your save and not have your pet run into your way.

Don't they have a smaller hitbox?
Like for example cat lies in the 2 grid wide entryway you can just go past it while dog can block both grids?

I recall that being the case in one of my older playthroughs where i finally picked a dog instead the usual cat. Could be wrong.

It happens with childrens too, so you better not have babies in SV or you will want to get rid of them too LOL

If you run against them for long enough, then you can still run through them.

Though next time simply decline the offer to take them.

AWESOME, i have no idea you could mod the collision box. I just don't know why it isn't similar to cows or other animals, where you can just go through it if you're up against it for a split second. I can see it slowing you down for that moment, but not BLOCK you totally, at least that's sort of what it does as I have lots of single width lanes on my farm, which is also my fault. When the dog is in the way, he won't let me past, and bumps one space away making a long chain of doing that over and over until he finally reaches a spot where he can actually get out of the way.

Yes, you need to get a certain quest from rasmodeus that will gain you access to do this, you may need to check the wiki as its not obvious

As for the dog, yea its annoying, ts ALWAYS in the way, cat is less annoying, I think you can change your pet in the sewer but cant recall right now, never done it, but just google changing your pet.
Without mods as stated above you cannot remove your pet (afaik)

You can walk through it if you keep walking. What annoyed me about the dog was the bark which was a bit too loud, so that's why I prefer the cat.
