But tbf there is little to nothing to do in stardew valley before you arrive so shopping out of boredum kind of makes sense, there's 2 drug addicts and at least 2 alcoholics in town. The forest is closed off, half the beach is not available, the mines and quarry and community center are shut off, the hot springs and rail lines are closed off, the bus lines are closed this place is kind of purgatory for the villages before we show up and start changing things :D
Leah is the outdoorsmen, she feels like she wouldn't be out of place on the farm, hell she lives next door.

Maru disappointingly does not create farm machines for you. but she feels like she should add some more value.
