How do fishing

Hifi I would like to ask how fishing works here. I am little confused how to catch a fish. Thank you

You have to keep the little fish symbol within the green bar you move up and down (by clicking and releasing LMB) until it finally gives up.

Cast your line, don't be fooled by the little "dwoop" sounds, you have a fish when you get a bigger sound with an exclamation point on your head. Click to hook the fish then, and this is the tricky part....you have to keep the little fish picture inside the green box. You do this by moving the green box up and down using the left-click on your mouse with the fish until you fill the vertical bar just to the right to the top (any time the green bar is off the fish you lose progress on this bar and a depleted bar will cause the fish to escape). If you keep the fish icon fully in the green bar the entire time you will get a "perfect" notice, this gives you more points. As you level up and get better equipment your green bar gets much bigger.

Here is a tip: you will mostly need to TAP the mouse button to control the green box. If you PRESS the mouse button it will zoom your bar to the top, letting it go will drop the bar to the bottom. When the bar hits the bottom it will bounce, which can cause you to lose a fish, so be sure to use the mouse button to soften the landing. It will take lots of practice to get the feel of the tap/hold system so you can follow the movement of the fish, but it comes.

Most of all, DON'T GIVE UP! It's a hella frustrating mini game and some of the fish are a PITA, but it CAN be done for ALL fish. (Source: me, having caught all fish)

Once last point. You can get "treasure" icons, you have to catch those at the same time as the fish, but not lose the fish. You do this by having the green bar sit under the treasure icon until the bar over the treasure icon fills, then finish catching the fish. It's best to try and get the fish bar ALMOST full, then snag the treasure, then go back to the fish before the fish "escapes" with an empty bar. This also takes practice.

Buy the training rod for 25 G it will give you a much bigger fishing bar use that for the first day of fishing.

Yeah, early on fishing harder fish is discouraging. until you hit fishing 6 or 7 and can buy the trap bobber (well attach the trap bobber to the iridium rod) the difficult fish are well, difficult to impossible to catch.

as such you take your rod up to the mountain lake and just fish there, most of those fish are easy to catch until your fishing levels up, you could alternatively buy the training rod for 25 XP and only be able to hook easy to catch fish. never tried it personally.

once you hit fishing level 3 you can buy crab pots. buy one, you can use the fish from it, to get the crab pot bundle getting you 4 pots. which is 20 fishing XP per day. now obviously its 15000 to fishing level 10 so you'd need...more than 4 pots to get their in a reasonable fashion. But for fishing I normally get to fishing 4 for the recycler and the 3 crab pots and ignore it unless my day has alot of free time.

that gets me the early cash needed to get farming started. at which point its off to the mines for the ores and foraging for wood to get my farm really started. while the fishing trash gets me stuff to recycle for coal, and refined quartz.

but you asked how to fish, yeah go to the mountain lake, fish until level 6 or 7 whenever the iridium rod becomes a thing,, buy it, use trap bobbers fish.

technique its easier for the fishing bar to go up than go down,, but early on your bar is pretty small, so just keep it centered on the fish. if the fish dives to the bottom of the meter, drop but pull up at the last fraction of a second so your green thing doesn't bounce.

pretty much it.

oh and to catch the difficult fish, use +fishing food to make your fishing bar bigger, the seafoam pudding ideally and a master rod. for 15 fishing skill, but I usually just go with +3 fishing food and its fine for me.

I struggled with this as well. I would advise two things: get the training rod for 25 gold and keep trying. It's the most frustrating fishing mechanic I have ever seen, but it is functional, lol.

skill ups will make it much easier. you get a skillup even if only catching seaweed or trash
