Hi, I am unsure of the steps I followed because this is my first time using mods and playing Stardew on steam. I found out my issue was I didnt copy the link SMAPI gives you properly. So now I get the SMAPI window popping up but the mods will not work.
I am using nexus mods. I would find the mod I would want, for example Stardew Valley Expaned. Once I download it I move it into my mods folder.
Yes I did.
I don't see anything saying error, but when I open the game tab it says "Stardew Valley 1.5.6 - running SMAPI 3.18.3 with 3 mods" which I remember it didn't do before I had this issue :/
Sadly I do not have discord nor am I comfortable doing that :) but I appreciate the help regardless and I hope I can find a solution soon! Have a good day/night and thank you!!
But judging by what you did and what your problem was in your original post, its probably not that you installed the mods or smapi wrong, but that you are launching the vanilla game because you messed with steam. smapi does have its own launcher for you to launch from to play modded. and previously you probably followed the instructions (which are on discord) to tell steam to launch the smapi launcher by default rather than the vanilla launcher
The nexus site itself is fine though.
Personally I don't like stardrop because it doesn't tell you thing like download progress, instead you just suddenly get told "oops we failed to download x mod, try it again"
Nexus' program is notorious for randomly breaking mod downloads (this is not limited to just using it for stardew either, it frequently breaks for many different games), the problem is nexus is too basic, and wide range, and has some errors in it. It doesn't know how to download and prepare all the kinds of files properly.
P.S. even steam workshop has a lot of similar problems that nexus has, if only valve would take a month to fix it, but nope modding is neglected.
No they did start off by launching it wrong, but then fixed it between their first post and first comment. But the rest of their issues are likely caused by using nexus. if not then they simply installed the mods wrong
