Living on Ginger Island - What about back at Stardew?

So, one thing I'm concerned about - my partner and I are wanting to stay on Ginger Island, but we're concerned about our animals and crops back on the farm in Stardew Valley. What are the consequences of staying on Ginger Island for extended periods?

Everything will still run normally, so if coop/barn doors are closed, animals will be locked in. If they run out of food, they'll go hungry. If you don't have sprinklers, crops won't get watered and if the season changes, they will die.
