My spouse doesn't see my bed
Okay, so I got married, and I have a small bed, but I usually sleep with my co-op partner. My wife complained that there was no bed (although it's in the same house as her!), so I tried sleeping in it to show her it was there. No luck. Anyone know why this happens?

The spouse sleeps on the right side of a double bed. If a small bed is everything you have, then there's technically no bed for them to sleep in.

Thanks a heap! Just tried this, and it works now.

I'm not even sure how you managed that... if you're in single-player mode, you can't even propose marriage (to an NPC) until after you've gotten the first house upgrade, which includes a kitchen and a double bed by default ...

I moved the bed out before upgrading.

I moved the bed out before upgrading.

I'm still unclear on how you managed that. The upgrade is applied over night. You have to be asleep for it to work ... in your bed.

Did you ... have a cabin on your farm? For a co-op partner? Were you sleeping in that?

I've never personally tried it (removing the bed I mean) (nor would I want to risk the funds for something I usually do in late summer or early fall of year one (when expenditures are still fairly tightly managed), but I'd still assume that the upgraded house would still have the double bed installed.

But I could be wrong.

I am the co-op partner. I moved the bed out before upgrading, and it did not replace the existing bed nor add a new one.

I fixed it by buying a double bed from Robin's Carpentry Shop, but I'm still curious as to why this happens.

Huh ... okay.

Is a Cabin upgrade instant? Or does it take a few days? (I'm assuming it's instant). Had the Host player upgraded his/her house? (Again, I have to assume they did).

If my assumptions are correct, then the game must have assumed you had access to a double bed. Because technically, you as a player do. But your spouse is linked to you and assigned to your cabin. So they don't have access to the double bed (that's actually in the host player's farmhouse).

So... in that case (assuming my assumptions are correct) it has to be directly related to you removing the bed before upgrading. I'm still surprised that the upgrade doesn't just automatically place a double bed though.

I guess technically, it should eliminate any single beds you have in inventory, and replace it with a double bed, but ... it doesn't do that.

there is a mod that adds a bathroom to your house, never seen anyone use the shower but my spouses would occasionally sit in the tub.

Do you have to buy a bed for two in this game? The bed I got after upgrading already looks like it might be enough

It is. The other beds you can buy are just for deco purpose. The one you already have works perfectly.
