how do i mod (IT WORKED!!!!)

I already have the latest version of SMAPI installed and when i hit play SMAPI starts up and loads itself but i cant figure out for the life of me what to do to get mods to work. on nexus mods page whenever i hit download it says vortex cannot respond no matter how much i click it and idk even if it did download, where itd get put or how id activate it. please dont get too technical lol i dont understand a lot about files or modding or coding and barely even know how unzipping files works

also uhh this will sound pretty dumb but sadly its true, my parents literally prohibited me from watching any youtube so please don't direct me to a tutorial video or something

Thanks, I think I undestand this! But my main problem right now is whenever i hit the download option, i get an error messagge saying that vortex is not responding and it won't let me download it, even manually.

Okay. I don't mod this game using Vortex myself, I mod manually, so to speak. So either someone more familiar can help you with that or you could try modding without Vortex?

It's quite easy once you have everything else set up. You just download the mods, unpack them and then put them into the mods folder :>

Did you install the voretex app? It kind of sounds like you're trying to use Voretex but haven't installed it. If you open the Vortex app then you can see any mods you downloaded with voretex then you need to click to install and activate them.

Couldn't you ask permission to watch just the specific video for installing? They could watch it with you to be sure it's nothing bad.

I used to have it installed but idk now it doesnt open no matter what and trying to install it again on nexus does nothing and hitting manual does nothing

Isn't installing it without Vortex simpler? In most cases you just toss mods into "Mod" folder and launch the game via modified launcher.

Could be an issue with a firewall or antivrus or other safety programs your parents may have.

i fear i could have deleted something important cause when i was trying to get stardew valley expanded (Honestly its the only mod i even want along with the mods u need to run it) i deleted almost everything in the mods folder except only a few essential looking things that i kept but now im worrying one of the things i deleted was important.
When I go to the page to try to reinstall it hitting the manual button does nothing no matter what

Uh got a bit of a steam-issue here im able to get mods to the mods folder and unzip them but whenever i try to start up any game it says cant sync to steam cloud? it doesnt just do it on stardew its on everything
