The social aspect SUCKS - Can I skip that?

Can I skip / evade the ham-handed "social" in this game?

I wanna raise crops & animals, and most importantly: go fishing all day long.

These villagers are super annoying! I skip all dialogue I can, but just now I had a forced cutscene where some old geezer took me to the town center.

So the question is: Can I skip all of this "social" and just play a chilled game of farming?

You can avoid making friends with people but there's some story things that happen no matter what like the community center. If you load it as multiplayer you can skip cut scenes BUT it means the game doesn't pause when your in menus so the days go faster.

You will miss out on some cooking and crafting recipes.

You don't need to befriend most people, if you don't care about achievements. Only the bachelor/-ette is the obvious exception, if you want to marry someone.

Though if you still want to max everyones hearts with as little interaction as possible, then concentrate on their birthdays, the Luau festival and the winterstar festival is enough to eventually get everyone to full hearts. Though that will still take like 5 years, if you doesn't talk or gift anything to them at all (and those, who doesn't attend the Luau will take about 6 years that way)

Sorry if it sounded like a rant, of sorts. I really like the game!!

Fishing is great and farming is cute! I haven't even got animals yet and love the game already, just planting stuff and fishing with the old man (He's the BEST!)

I just find this social stuff annoying as hell. 😅

The game's got such a chilled vibe, exactly because I can do as I please. Anything that interrupts that chilled gameplay loop I perceive as an annoyance.

That being said - This game is a gem!

If you're ok with playing modded, the CJB Cheats Menu on the Nexus has options to turn off relationship decay (so you can give a gift every now and then and then go back to ignoring people without any penalties) and to add hearts.

That seems the opposite of what's wanted. They don't like the cut scenes and making friends means more cut scenes.

Some cut scenes you get no matter what but if you don't interact with people and make friends then you'll get less of them.

you can skip most cutscenes by clicking the red button in the bottom right of the screen. just look at the social aspect in a gamey way, like meters that need to be kept up. that's pretty much what i do.

You can ignore it but will lose out a lot of recipes and stories, eventually you will be able to "automate" some things so will have more time to do social stuff. I don't do a lot of social until like year 2 or 3.

I really just try to focus on the social stuff whenever i don't have stuff to do or its fast; when Pam operates the bus you can give her most forages besides winter ones that will lie right next to her and itll usually be a neutral or liked gift. Besides that I just socialize with villagers on occasion whenever all the farmwork for the day is done and I dont feel like mining. If you want, if you have the time and patience then completing all bulletin board bundles on the community center instantly raises your friendship with everyone by 2 hearts, decreasing how much social interaction you need. And when someone has 8 or 10 hearts, the heart decay stops.

Seems like a cool idea for a mod or new game mode! A "Lone Wolf" or "Stranded Survivor" sort of mod which removes other NPCs and the nearby town and rebalances the game around it

Snowy doesn't do modded but they did similar. The challenge is never leave the farm except for 1 day a year. Which means you'll only be forced to talk to people who visit the farm.
