Maybe Penny would get the option for the new house after Pam moved out. Maybe Pam would plant a tea sapling in the side garden if she moved in. Maybe Pam would have dialogue about how she thought nobody would ever care for her as you do, and how greatly it has changed her life.
Could marriage involve living in two separate houses?
Could Marnie end up with you in the evenings, but always leave the farm first thing in the morning?
I admit I love the thought of her kicking Lewis to the curb, and telling him she has found someone better, who is not only happy to show their relationship publicly, but even to commit to her for life. I'd like to see her tell Lewis that being played for a secret mistress was less than she deserved.
I can see him going through an arc of getting over Emily and transferring his attachment to you. Then he could talk about how much better it is to face reality and see what's right in front of him, appreciating love built from friendship, rather than idolizing someone he cannot even know because he can't talk to her.
But running the saloon until midnight every day would interfere with married life on the farm. Maybe the saloon would have to close earlier every day, like say 8pm, for him to come home to you. That might make an interesting game mechanic to have to work around.
I thought about that, but wouldn't being married to you force him to lose the option of moving away as he says he likes to do?
I'm sad to think his marriage arc would involve him admitting all his joy in the wild man lifestyle was just a ruse to hide how much he wished he could be normal.
And if this wasn't enough, she also has the worst business plan ever;
Always open but will only serve customers when I feel like it. I have more important things to do like staring into a useless object in the kitchen while you want to shop!
Given Gunthers interest in archaeology I think he could have a really interesting backstory with a lot of traveling and stories about different locations that is unknown to the player. Would be cool to have Marlon as some sort of companion when you are out adventuring in the Skull Cavern for example. He must have some really good combat skills.
IDK it sounds like a Mary Sue to me. Everyone has baggage, including you and me. I think Stardew is pretty awesome for reflecting that.
