Selling crops in town vs from the box

Whenever I have to harvest crops, I usually go straight in town to buy more seeds to replace them. So far I just make sure I have the amount of money required to buy all the seeds, but I was thinking about just taking the crops into town myself to sell them which would immediately cover the cost of the seeds.

Is the selling price the same if I just take everything to Pierre's myself? Or should I keep putting everything into the box?

You'll get the same amount of money either way. The advantage of selling to Pierre is you get the money right away, rather than having to wait for the next morning. However, I'm pretty sure to get the achievements related to shipping items you do have to ship them in the box.

One of the benefits of selling directly to Pierre versus putting in the box is that Pierre will sell your crops to other villagers. I don't think this has any effect on your relationships with villagers, though.

One time I sold about 300 common blueberries to Pierre, the next day when I was talking to Caroline and Evelyn, they said they had bought some blueberries that were so bad they had to throw them out.

From then on, I only sold gold-star crops to Pierre, and then I'd get messages from villagers saying how they bought such and such from the store, and it was really good. Like when Maru said her mom asked her to pick up something good, so she bought some strawberry wine for dinner.

So if you like the idea of other villagers being able to eat your crops and tell you how much they enjoyed them, you can sell to Pierre. As far as I know, this doesn't effect gameplay at all, you don't earn any extra money, and you don't earn any extra hearts with villagers.

Ok cool. I don't really mind what comments the people might have about the food, I'm just interested in more easily covering my expenses.
