a mod suggested making an appdata folder if the game didn't create one upon installation and it didn't so i made one, and it didn't work
yeah i did verify integrity of game cache i forgot to add that to my list haha sorry about that
I wanted to be smart and say you need to plug in a sound device but you already tried that.
Right click Stardew Valley in your Steam Library > Go to "Properties" > Set Launch Options > In the Launch Options put the following in:
"C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Stardew Valley.exe" %command%
You will have to change the path to match the directory where your Stardew Valley.exe is located at.
For, instance if you want to run SMAPI while launching it as Stardew Valley with the Steam overlay then you would have to do something like this instead:
"C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\StardewModdingAPI.exe" %command%
After you do that you can press the "Play" button from your Steam Library page and it will run the game, since you set a custom launch option it will run the game as you set it. It works fine for me and I can run SMAPI as Stardew Valley and have the overlay with getting achievements just fine, no needing to 'add a game' to my library and running it like that, becaue that's boring.
oddly enough this also didn't work :(
for mine i used "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Stardew Valley.exe" %command%
and it still does the thing where steam says i'm in game, doesn't launch, and then says i'm no longer in game
removing \Stardew Valley.exe at the end of the directory makes steam open the source folder but for some reason steam does NOT want to run the .exe
I'm also having the same problem
i solved the problem last year by reinstalling windows 10 entirely, may be what you have to do :(
