What's in a name?

Names are a difficult thing for me, which is a strange thing for a writer to say. I like names to have a theme or be significant in some way. Go figure that this game has you name just about everything, including your favorite thing.

My farm name is Geofront.

My favorite thing is LCL.

My dog's name is Shinji. (I should have gone with the cat so I could say Shinji is a ♥♥♥♥♥).

My chickens are named after Metal Gear Solid characters (bonus points to those who get the reason why).

My void chickens will be named after Metal Gears. The first one, appropriately, will be named Shagohod.

My cows will be named after the female cast of Neon Genesis Evangelion.

EDIT: My rabbits will be named after characters from Sonic the Hedgehog, including ones from the Archie Comics, pre-Penders.

My goats will be named after characters from Undertale.

I have yet to think about the rest of the livestock that I haven't bought or raised yet. The horse might be named Teioh, which is, again, a reference.

Do you have a naming theme for your animals? How many of you named them after relatives, family members, or pets from real life?

I don't bother naming my animals most of the time—I just take whatever Marnie dumps on me, although I think I slightly tweaked a pig's name once.

I don't have a running theme for anything else, just whatever pops into my head at the moment:

Farmer: Jasper
Cat: Bongo (because my wife won't let me name any of our actual cats Bongo)
Farm: Cumberland (the county I live in)
Favorite Thing: Sleep

I use the random name generator for the animals, pretty much settle for whatever sounds cool.
Farmer: Billy (Jacksepticeye would probably love that)
Farm: Wholesome (Farms)

For my characters I pick a letter or ask my bf to pick one and I build a name after that. I already have a set of names and personalities for those.

I used them for Ragnarok Online making a name fitting of the char and some are really nice (to me)

As for the farm, im mostly going with what I want to do.

Pets, it could be a funny name or a cruel one (like naming my cat Birria)

I picked a cat that I named after the kitten we found one day in the yard and kept. Seemed fitting. Practically the story of the animal Marnie presents us.
I named the horse after the obvious nintendo choice, I mean, It is inspired by HM games
Epwna. (<- intentional, That's how I spell it in game)

The farm is called.. just that. "The" Farm.
Favorite thing is different for each character. One of my recent saves I put "Seduce Me.", The quote from Spy to Scout in Expiration Date.

I am very bad with names and usually take the first thing that comes to my head. Often I just translate random things into Russian or German and take it as a name (for example I translate the words "bone", "jumper" or "ball" for a dog).

I also use names from books I liked as a child. Most of my chickens are named after the ones from Pettson and Findus, and my ducks are named after some Donald Duck characters.

Scrooge, Launchpad McQuack, Gizmo Duck, Darkwing Duck, Drake Mallard, and Gosalyn. Apparently I used to be really into Darkwing Duck.
