Death of plants in summer
Hey guys, Its my first summer and I had a strange occurence. I made sure to water all my crops, yet 2 plants died by morning. Is this possible? I'm almost certain I got them all watered, but perhaps I missed a couple.

Was this the first day of Summer, if so you should know at the end of every season your crops will all die, with exception to a few crops which last over 2/3 seasons.

if they were just gone crows could have eaten them need to make sure you ahve scarecrows covering everythign... or they were struck by lightning during a storm... but if they were withered and dead lookign tehy were most likely spring crops...

Ok, they were withered so I must have missed them. I'll just have to be more careful. I was just wondering if there is a probablity that they die no matter due to game mechanics.

the only time I have seen plants die is froma season change... other than that all I ahve seen is the crows kill a few and losing somehting to lightning... if you dont water a crop it shouldnt die it should just not grow for the day its not watered and once you begin watering it again it should continue where it left off...

IM glad there arent random super storms that destroy your farmland like in harvest moon... nothign could make you rage like having a storm roll in the day before a big harvest that wipes out half of your crops...

This also happened to me. Twice! On different days in the Summer of my second year. I also made sure to absolutely water my plants but then two of them died, one after the other.

I'm not sure if it has anything to do with it, or if it was simply coincidence, but on both cases I encountered a thunderstorm prior to the wilted crops.

I know thunderstorms can burn a tree now (happened to two of mine, though I don't know for how long they will be staying crispy), but I am not sure if this has anything to do with this...

the latest patch states that the rate that lightning hits crops nad trees has been raised but linghtning rods are also mor elikely to absorb the hits if they arent already makigna battery... so it may have been from lightning...

Wait, so having a lightning rod doesn't keep that from happening?
I have quite a number of them and yet two tress got struck, plus (possibly) these wilted crops.

Perhaps it was lightning, but don't you normally get a message in the morning? Something like, " you heard a loud explosion during the night."

I do not think they are a 100% chance to stop lightning from hitting something I also beleive they ahve to be within a certain range Im not 100% sure on this thouhg... but the way it is worded in the patch notes is :

Lightning strikes now have a unique effect on fruit trees

Lightning is more likely to strike trees and crops, but lightning rods now have a very good chance of intercepting lightning strikes (if they aren't already processing a lightning bolt)

that message is telling you a metori landed in your field...

By the way, if Lightning does strike one of your fruit trees, don't chop it down. It'll drop coal for a few days then recover.

Not sure if this is common knowledge yet or not.

Oh, so it WILL recover? That's a relief. Haha, planting trees takes forever in games like these.

Well, if it is the thunderstorm's fault, then I guess there's not much I can do about it but make more of those lightning rods and really forego the stone/hardwood fences.

Yeah, I lost a Blueberry mid summer. not really sure why, was just north of a quality sprinker.
