Water seasonal crops on last day of season?
Since they're going to die the next day is there any reason I should bother watering them?

You should not.

Nope. In fact, if you have it worked out when you'll get your last harvest you can stop watering then. Like, say you have corn, as example. Corn produces every 4 days once it's fully grown. If you get a harvest on the 25th of Fall, that's the last harvest you'll get before winter so you can just not water your corn for the rest of the season after the 24th.

That's a pretty big game changer for me. Lot more energy and time freed up in the last days of a season. Thanks for that! Maybe this is just some common sense thing everyone else figured out their own, but I think it should probably be added to that "tips and tricks" thread.

It may also be a good idea to upgrade something like your hoe or watering can on the 27th of the season, so you can get it back on the 1st of the next season.

This, but to take it a step further, the hoe can be safely upgraded any time after the 24th because all crops take at least 4 days to mature (afaik) so after the 24th there's no point in plantng anything, which means there's no point in tilling any ground. Say it's near the end of Spring and you want to upgrade both your hoe and your watering can before Summer starts. On the 25th (or after you've tilled the last ground you're going to for the season), take your hoe to Clint and have him upgrade it. As soon as you've watered your last crop on the 27th (the day the hoe would be ready if you took it on the 25th), go see Clint to pick up your hoe and drop off your watering can (because there's never any need to water on the 28th unless you have corn that will carry over from Summer to Fall and keep growing).

Another trick I used for getting my watering can upgraded was rainy days. Check the weather forecast every day because it tells what the next day's weather will be. If, as example, you check on Monday and a rainy day or a storm is coming up Tuesday, hurry and do your watering then take the can to Clint and have him upgrade it. Tuesday's rain will water your crops for you while you don't have a can and then you can pick your can back up on Wednesday and resume watering.
