Can you find artifacts while digging non-worm spots?

I'm slowly trying to get all the achievements and collection-wise the artifacts for the museum is the last one I need to complete.

I know you can find artifacts just digging around in the mines, but how about everywhere else? I noticed that rusty spur can be found on your farm, but I've never seen worms on my farm. And I've seen worms in the desert, but I was wondering if it was possible to find artifacts just digging around there too. I've done some digging around in the mountains a few times and haven't found an artifact in a non-worm spot yet. I just figured this was rare, but I wanted to make sure that I'm not wasting my time. Thanks!

I don't think you can. Maybe Glass Shards? If you can I haven't seen a noticeable amount drop.

Hmm, well that will stink since I seriously don't ever remember seeing worms on my farm and I'm currently on year 4. And the only other way is fishing and I haven't had too much luck with a couple other artifacts I've tried to get from fishing hah. I guess I have a lot of trap bobbers and magnet bait I need to craft.

Yes you can. At least in the mines.
Edit: worms don't spawn on the farm. Best spots for me are the east and North path from the farm, the beach (both sides) and the area around the carpentry shop.

I know you can get artifacts while digging in the mines since worms don't show up there anyway, I'm just unsure about everywhere else. Especially with the rusty spur which can only be dug up on the farm, apparently.

There are never worms on the farm, the rusty spur has dropped for me from a Fishing treasure in the river from memory.

I'm just getting this info from the wiki, for the rusty spur it says

Farm (10%)
Fishing Chest (0.16%-0.18%)

And I'm assuming this means digging on the farm? So thats why I was curious if I could dig other areas and find artifacts in the non-worm spots.

I'm 99% sure the wiki is wrong about the Farm part, I've made tilled the entire farmland multiple times while doing my massive farms and have never once had any Artifact drop.

Outside of the mines the only way to find artifacts are from worms, and from fishing for treasure. in my experience it seems worms are more reliable than fishing, but either route takes a long long time.

I need 1 more, the ancient sword. I'll be quite happy when I find it :) Can anyone confirm if the ancient sword can be fished from the river near Leah's house?

Yeah, now that I'm looking at the other artifacts, it doesn't say any of those skeletal bones can be found from fishing but I swear thats all I ever fish up lol.

Well damn, that makes 3 of the 5 artifacts I still need that I'll probably only get from fishing and I've been trying to fish like crazy. Oh well, more to do in the game hah.

Hm okay, thats good to know it can be dug up then. I guess the wiki isn't really accurate hah. Except for the strange dolls which I'm pretty sure you have a good chance to find in the mines/the skull cavern

I actually have done most of my treasure fishing in the ocean and I've fished up like two or three of those swords. I can't find a dino egg though )': Or the chicken statue, apparently.

Maybe it's a typo. The wiki doesn't name the farm as a source in the main article text. Only as a place in the description of the spur. I never had any worm or drop on the farm.

I found the Rusty Spur in the bus stop area, if that would be of any help?

Yeah, and thats the only artifact that says "farm", and one of the last I need so I was just going to dig up the entire town haha.

Actually, yes! Now I know it can pretty much be found in mutliple places around town (: Now I wonder honestly if any of these artifacts really do have certain spots they can only be found. Besides the ones in the desert.

I'm wondering if certain artifacts can be found on certain days of the year. I have only seen ornamental fan on one day, and I dug up 3 of them.

Or I suppose the loot table just refreshes every morning and could be totally random. What we need is either a mod, or an in game way to see the loot table :3

Maybe at the casino there could be a reward for being a high roller that lets us see what artifacts we can look for the next day

While checking to see if Ancient Sword drops out front of Leah's house, I fished up an ornamental fan.
