Who the Hell is Mona? *SPOILER ALERT*
The main grave stone in the cemetary, "Here lies our Beloved Mona"
Is she Jas and Shane's mom?
Alex's mom
Carolyne's mother
The Wizard's "wife"

The wizard's wife is the witch that gives you black slimes and void eggs afaik.
Saint Landwalker Apr 4, 2016 @ 9:07am
Short Answer: Probably not any of those.
Hearse Apr 4, 2016 @ 9:10am
Yeah I've gathered as much, throwing out random posibilities

Not Alex's mom, her name was Clara. Not the Wizard's ex, that is the witch that flys around.

Longer answer, now that I'm not on my phone:

  • Alex's mom is Clara (as mentioned my mmmmarygray)
  • The wizard's ex-wife is still alive.
  • Jas, Shane, and Caroline are all not originally from Pelican Town, so it would be very unusual for any of their mothers to be buried there. In particular, Jas's parents would (presumably) be buried together, wherever they are. (Note: Jas and Shane are not siblings, and may not even be related. Shane is Jas's godfather.)

The official wiki implies Shane and Jas are cousins.

It does, and they may very well be. I haven't seen any dialogue in the game to suggest it, but I've certainly not seen all the dialogue there is to see. (Particularly from that household.)

Well of course if Marnie is both Jas and Shane's aunt, then they would obviously either be brother/sister OR cousins, assuming of course Concerned Ape didn't include complicated family relations like "Great Aunts."

Yeah, they are related, Marnie is an aunt to both of them. They are not brother and sister though.

They couldn't be brother and sister. Shane says that he thinks of Jas, Marnie and him as a little family and that he never had that growing up. You wouldn't say a sister is like a family you never had. They never mentioned cousins but it's extremely likely unless Marnie is an aunty to one of them through an old marriage that's not been brought up. Shane is definitely Jas's godfather as well though.

I feel like the Wizard would have known if his daughter were dead. His line regarding having a daughter in town very strongly implies that she's alive. Most common vote is that it's Abigail, due a wide variety of reasons and supporting evidence. Runner-up candidate is Emily.

The most likely scenario is that it's just someone's old relative. If I had to wing it, I'd probably say Penny's grandmother or something.

Aside from the obvious "They aren't siblings, that much is known," it's not technically impossible that Marnie isn't related to either of them, and that "Aunt" is just used as a term of affection.

Most likely, though, is that Marnie is in fact the biological aunt of at least one of them (in this case, most likely Jas), and possibly both through two different Marnie-siblings.

I know, I'm just saying the only way that Marnie could be both Jas and Shane's aunt is EITHER
by siblings or if they are not siblings then by default that must mean they are cousins.

My vote is on Emily being his daughter personally. Her parents are mysteriously off traveling for an indefinite period of time. Makes a lot of sense that those parents could easily be the Wizard and Witch. It would also explain her interest in magic and spirits.

Anyone remember the names on the graves in HM64? It could just be a nod to that, since the game is pretty heavily based on HM64.

Was the mayor ever married?
If yes, maybe it could have been his wife
