Pacience, i had the same problem, but the more you fish, the less difficult it will get :P

Get an easy fishing mod.
I never really had any issues with fishing but I still downloaded it as after 60ish hours I was all fished out.

Knowledge that make fishing easier for me:
Fishing has an inverse learning curve. It starts hard then gets easier.
Fish have individual difficulties per species.
Clicking and holding is bad. Rappid, short and controlled clicks are bettter.
The bar has momentum. At speed it will bounce when striking the bottom or top. Equal and opposite reaction and all that.

Hope that helps. :)

I wish people would stop suggesting mods. Fishing is one of though things that you need to relax with, and know you wont get it all the fishes at once. I finder light taps helps to keep is steady, while some quick taps will move the bar up. As you level up, your bar gets bigger and you can buy better rodes to help too.

I think TC is finding it more frustrating than relaxing..

Practice, practice, practice! Understanding the mechanics of the minigame also helps.. The bar slides like it is on ice as you hold and release the left mouse button (LMB) and has a bit of weight that makes it sink.. I like to think of the bar as a guy on a jetpack.. The longer you hold the thrust, the faster he will rise.. If you do quick short bursts, it will stay fairly steady at its current spot.. If you hold it until it hits the top or let it quickly fall to the bottom, the bar will bounce off it like a rubber ball.. The higher your skill (your character's fishing level) the bigger the bar will be.. If you need to get to a fish that dropped to the bottom, consider slowing your decent with some LMB taps on the way down..

Its kinda hard to " relax " when this just brings nothing but rage and sorrow to me

Ive done slow clicks and fast clicks but nothing seems to do ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the bar still jumps every where and it doesnt hit the top or the bottom. it litterally just makes me hate the game and quit
It's a shame you don't enjoy it. It's one of my favorite parts of the game. An afternoon or evening spent fishing is a joy to me. There's nothing quite like your first legendary fish catch.

Like the other guys said, you get the feel for it over time. Practice makes perfect, find how the bar reacts to your clicks and how long to hold for what effect.

Hey, OP. Have you ever played air hockey? The bar is a lot like the disc. Hot it had and it bounces all over. :)

Yeah, fishing starts out really hard. But if you stick with it, you'll reach a moment where it bcomes very easy.

The first 3 levels are the worst. Each fishing level, your "good" zone gets bigger, making it easier and easier.

Just gotta hope for easy stuff early (sardines, Anchovy) which barely move the the bar.

Eventually, you will be able to tell what fish is on the online, and manupilate the bar accordingly

It also smooths out and decreases the jumping of the fish.
