It's a 5x5 square, so 25 tiles, with the sprinkler at the center, so minus one = 24 tiles. Two plants in any direction are covered by the iridium sprinkler.
Ok, thanks very much guys. That makes it easier for me to see. I'll just hoe 5x5 squares and put a sprinkler in the middle of each. During the winter I'm going to map out a new crop area. Right now I just have this huge rectangle of about 320 crops fed by a ton of quality sprinklers.
