Anyone else feel like festivals are a bit underwhelming?
Most of the festivals seem like simple one trick ponies with very little to do.

Egg Festival: Pretty neat, doing an egg hunt. And that's it aside from the shop. Also, Vincent gets stuck on a rock. At the very least, the winner could change each year, instead of having just Abigail be the default winner.

Flower Dance: You get a shop and the dance. At the very least you'd think doing the dance with somebody would raise the heart level, but alas, it does not. Maybe some after festival dialogue with the partnet you danced with? It obviously takes a lot of inspiration from Harvest Moon: Back to Natures Goddess Festival.

Luau: Absolutly nothing happens here. You can throw trash in the pot and aside from some slight changes in dialogue, nothing special happens. There's no prize for throwing in a gold star Ancient Fruit.

Dance of the Moonlight Jellies: Again, nothing happens. I mean, it's cool to look at, but aside from chatting with everyone and getting some eye candy from the jellyfish, nothing special happens. What would work best in my opinion would allow you to ask one of the singles to watch it with you, and get some unique dialogue and maybe an affection boost.

Stardew Valley Fair: The only festival I really like. You actually get to do stuff and win prizes (or buy you're way to the tokens if you like). Would be better with one or two extra games.

Spirits Eve: Neat maze, but after the first time you complete it, that's it. There's nothing new besides a free Golden Pumpkin. They could have at least made it so the villagers actually try to complete it (rather than just stand around). Have everyone wear costumes or something!

Festival of Ice: Simple enough. You should at least be able to build a snowman too, maybe have a snowman contest?

Feast of the Winterstar: You give a gift, get a gift, and then it's all over.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like the festivals could have really been expanded on more. As it stands they're nothing more than rare item shops and some standard dialogue that's the same every year. Maybe it's my Harvest Moon nostalgia talking, but that game had 3x the festivals, with some being simple contests (tomato throwing competition anyone) to some that were focused on improving affection levels with your chosen character (Starry Night festival, Fireworks festival, etc.)

Yeah, after the first year (getting all of the rare stuff that's possible) there's really not much going on with them. Might as well walk in then walk out right away, or skip them all together.

I think its mostly the animation and scripting time bottleneck for a single Dev that kept them from being expanded on with alllll the other things. I could see them getting a update eventually, or more added but with such limitations in mind I just give their quality an A for effort.

They don't serve much in the way of gameplay function, but they expand the immersion, story, lore, whatever you want to call it.

After doing them all they just piss me off. They prevent me from doing the chores I wanted to get done in town when an event is happening. I thought they would have rewarded random furniture or some such. Like the Christmas tree. But, no you just buy that off the rng carpenter instead.

I was really surprised there was no special merchant at the Feast of the Winter Star. Really felt like there should be someone selling the holiday tree plus some other holiday themed deco or even a santa hat. Hopefully we'll see some more items and/or mini games added to the festivals.

Honestly they should do the Harvest Moon approach and help it increase relationships with the townsfolk (maybe it already does I just didn't know).

The events are nice and I am sure we'll see more events in the near future.

I agree ... at the moment the festivals seem like you are entering a still-life.
Nothing changes from year to year, the citizens always stand at the same position and they always tell the same things (although I hear that CA at least changes the part where you are standing away from your wife when watching the moonlight jellies).

More variety would be nice

Not for me sadly. :/ Me and Sam stand on two different piers for the festival. That has always been my least favourite festival, at the very least they could, put you next to your husband/wife.

From what I've read it's in a beta patch, not officially released yet.

I have still to win the egg festival. I get 2k every year for winning the fishing one (and Pam is disappointed each time!). I want that hat from the egg festival!

I love the hat rewards. There could be more!

Hats I would like to see:

Flower Crown (recieved if you take part in the Flower dance? Or maybe as a gift from Lewis if the Luau is especially successful...)

Bunny headband (reward for even year winning of the the egg hunt?)

Glowing Green Jellyfish hat.(Works like a small glow ring!)

Chiquita/fruit hat (reward for first place in the Stardew Valley Fair.)

I'm sure we could look to Hat Fortress 2 for more inspiration XD

I wish there were some events with the romanceable people... would add a lot more flavor to teh game but as is once you see a holiday once there is almost no reason to do it again...

The Fair is nice and all, but after you buy everything there is it's useless.
