Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley

Ver estadísticas:
Any potential for a DRM-free version?
I had a moment of faux-enlightenment today. I realized that I wasn't getting a lot of college work done because I spend too much time on Steam. So, in a flash of motivation, I uninstalled Steam. The only save I really cared about was Stardew Valley (yeah, sorry Crypt of the Necrodancer), so I backed it up.

Since I had bought it on Humble (more money to the dev that way), I had assumed there was a DRM-free version, but there isn't. Which means if I want to play Stardew Valley, I have to wait until summer break when I re-install Steam (which granted, is only a few weeks away).

In the end, I'd rather have a DRM-free Stardew Valley anyway. Any plans to implement that in the future? If not, I understand. I still have Steam installed on my old computer anyway, and since Stardew Valley has a cloud save I could play it on that.

Well, it's available DRM-free on GOG[www.gog.com] but you'd need to rebuy it there to get that version.

Though honestly, you can download the SMAPI, and run the game though it to bypass Steam.

Ahh, that's a bummer. Why GOG and not Humble? Seems odd.

Hmm... not sure how to do that, but I'll look on the forums. Is that gonna cause any glitches?

SMAPI should be fine, though I've had lock-ups that may be related either to SMAPI or the TimeSpeed mod for it. Causes a lock-up in certain relationship cutscenes (Haley and Sebastian), and when playing Journey of the Prairie King. Again, I don't know if SMAPI is the one responsible for that. You can skip those cutscenes to avoid the lock-ups.

You would have to launch SMAPI as Stardew Valley with the %command% addition in order to be able to use the Steam Overlay, plus SMAPI in general. This can be achieved by doing the following.

You would have to go to Properties > Set Launch Options > Then put the following in:

"C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\StardewModdingAPI.exe" %command%

Making sure to change the directory to match where your SMAPi is and what not. Then you can press 'Play' and it will launch SMAPI as Stardew Valley with the Steam Overlay due to the %command% part of it and because you specified it to launch the .exe in the first place. Please note that there is a single space between the last " and %command% part.

Doesn't cause any glitches that I have seen so.
