Joja mart charges more than pierre to non-members. To become a member costs 5000, (Where the prices become equal). If 5G an hour is a realistic min wage that means a person has to work 1000 hours to join. But a year in stardew is much shorter than our years.

Each season is 28 days long. And 4 seasons per year. Lets say pierre works from 9 Am to 11 pm (Joja's open hours). So 14 hours a day. 14x7 = 98. Four weeks in a season/month so 392. So to join joja a min wage person doing those hours requires

1 season = 392
2 season = 784
3 season = 1176

Nearly 3/4 of a year and that's buying nothing else. No food, no drinks, no clothing, no nothing.

People go to joja because its cheap. So if 5000g isn't a small amount of money. Then they shouldn't have any business. Morris wants the community center, he has no reason to make membership cheap for everyone else and super expensive for you. Realistically he'd want to lower it as much as he could to get you to join since he should know the town is lucky to get one new resident a year.

5G as a real wage makes no sense. It has to be a joke/insult.

If a bus costs 40,000G to fix. Just imagine what it costs to buy a new one outright.

It would take the 14 hour min wage Pierre 25.5 years to pay off the bus repair bill with no interest on it.

Actually, Wal-Mart gleefully follows the habit of subcontracting cleaning and some other property maintenance in order to get access to illegally cheap labor while keeping their own hands clean should the labor violations be caught.

Each morning it will give you 1 free joja soda.

If you buy the joja membership, the joja store remains open and pierre remains open. If you don't buy a joja membership Joja mart closes and morris leaves. So your only left with Pierre's store.
