Marrying Emily
So, I'm looking forward to being able to marry Emily, but I kinda feel bad about Clint. I know the dev will probably have him get over it...

But in reality, I feel that he would realize the only thing he has is a crappy job he doesn't even like, and gazing forlornly every night at the woman he loves that he'll never be with because she married the local farmer. Then he'll fall deeper into depression, use his smithing skills to craft his last weapon, then one night stand staring at his face in the mirror as he brings up that weapon, aims...

Then chickens out at the last second because he's "such a coward". Then he'll resume his normal lifestyle, in a deep pit of despair, resenting the farmer who comes in to ask for a tool upgrade every once in a while, or asks for geodes to be processed.

Then his work will start to suffer. The farmer will complain because the ax he upgraded to gold won't even cut branches, let alone a fallen log. Then Clint will snap, grab the farmer by the lapels, and demand to know if the farmer even realizes the grief that he's going through. Then maybe he'll grab the weapon he made specifically to commit suicide and attack the farmer, but the farmer's been visiting the deepest depths of the mines, so is able to deflect each blow.

After getting injured, the farmer realizes Clint is out for blood, and will end up having to forcefully disarm him. Harvey patches them both up, but because the farmer is closer friends with him, and is essentially the victim, Clint is looked after last, and because of that he's permanently hobbled. Now he not only is forever lost in love, but he can't hold a hammer right.

Clint realizes losing his chances with Emily wasn't rock bottom, that being unable to even do his job means he is essentially worthless now. Not only that, but he attacked the farmer, who is beloved to everyone, and so now everybody will be against him.

Soon after the blacksmith is released from Harvey's, Lewis will come to Clint's place to deliver punishment for assault, only to find the blacksmith found the courage to use that weapon for what he created it for...

But yeah, looking forward to marrying Emily! :)

Emily isn't a marriage candidate...

And besides, do you really want to marry the girl wearing the red dress who works in a bar with a bedroom in the back??

She's going to be added as a candidate soon, and Shane too.

I'm also wondering how CA is going to tackle the Emily/Clint storyline once she becomes eligible for the player to marry. I thought maybe something as simple as allowing the player to talk him out of going after her could work.

But totally LOLing over the idea of having Clint snap. :D

She's going to be a candidate in an upcoming update.

That bedroom is Gus's.

She made that dress herself! I think it looks fabulous!

And did you just skim over the rest of the stuff of I typed???

The developer is making her, and Shane marriage candidates in a future patch.

Ya, kinda feels odd to add her and not him. Clint isn't at the top of my personal list of the guys, but I think it'd only be fair for him to be a romance option if his canon crush becomes one. Only issue with him as is with other shop owners is how do you cover the void of losing the Blacksmith. Same goes for Sandy who I was thinking would be a good female to help keep it even.

Wizard and Linus are the only two I can think of as being solo and not owning a shop.

I'd support Clint becoming a romance option, he was my secret santa... gave me geodes which I had to spend money at his shop to open. I'd say he was bold, but I did end up bowing down and giving him money to open them. I guess he wins that one.

Maybe he'll fall for Pam?

Man, it'd be like marrying Won all over again, bugger wouldn't even give his wife so much as a 10% discount in his shop. :htsmug:

Well, the OP escalated quickly. Sheesh, that's rather dark.

Anyway, what about Gus? Dude won't have his assistant, he'll have to do everything himself, and his business might suffer as a result.

We'll have to wait and see how CA handles it.

How do you figure? It's not that long of a trip from the farm to the saloon, and Emily's not a lazy bum like her sister, if Penny can still find time to tutor Vincent and Jas I see no reason Emily can't do her job at the saloon.

I think it would make sense if you still see her working in the saloon some nights. Maybe only part time. Other spouses go into town once in a while (Alex goes to visit his grandparents, for instance), so Emily's day in town could include her working at the saloon for a little while.

I feel bad because every time I talk to Clint I realize how little I respect him. There are so many people in the village with issues, past and ongoing, and he is the only one who doesn't want to do anything about his situation.

I totally understans that you don't need bad things to happen to you to make you feel bad, but he could at least say to himself "Hey I'm not happy here, I'm going to do something about it." instead of just say, "Well I'm not happy here so I may as well just give up."

Besides I think Emily has a thing for Sandy, not Clint, and he might think that too if he ever actually took the time to get to know her rather than dwell on his own misery. Sure, he knows she likes amethysts, but does he know much else? I think she can do better than someone with such low motivation. I hope, though, that he finds happiness with himself and realizes some of his passions.

If Clint reacted to you actually marring Emily it would be a first in this game. Not a single NPC in the game gives a ♥♥♥♥ if you have married anyone, not even your "girlfriends", or if you have had your first son, not even the grandparents (looking at you, Robin and Demetrius xd). Even Penny doesn't even know if her mother is back to work or not, she will be happy she got the bus work back when she is not, or be the usual "my life is so bad and my mom doesn't work" when she is actually back driving.

Yeah my first character married two days ago and I've already started a new game because all the magic was lost. [/rant]

I don't know. Alex's grandparents tell me that they're happy that I'm a part of the family now and that they hope Alex finds happiness on the farm because he's a good kid or something to that effect. I thought it was super sweet when they said that. Mind you, this is my only experience with marriage in the game, so I don't know what it's like when you marry other characters.

Maybe it helps if you befriend their family? I'm at 10/10 with Evelyn and 7/10 with George, so it could be that your spouse's family members say more if they feel comfortable with you.

Also, I think it was just a coincidence, but Haley was "ignoring" me the day after the flower dance when I took her place and danced with Alex. I know that most likely wasn't planned, but it made me giggle. :)

Honestly, I have this idea, that if you Marry Emily, Gus will hire Shane to help with the Saloon, so he des not have to work at Joja anymore. Shane is there a lot of the time anyway.

Or maybe Leah. She has nothing to do, and is there a lot.
