Yes they do. My second silo gave me a total of 480 instead of 240.

Having more silos isn't a bad thing, especially once you get a deluxe barn & coop that are all full of animals that you want (due to the auto feeder). Though, it's up to you whether or not if you want to use that space for a few or use it for something else. Yes, they give more capacity if you do build more.

You'll probably need a total of 3 if you're going to have a fully upgraded coop and barn

Yay.

I always put by coop/barn toward the south end of the farm, and place the Silo's along the south edge, where the screen is covered by the ledge anyway. Kinda like a Fence to the south

Just take the hay out of the silo and store it in a chest. That way you can have unlimited hay with only one silo.

A silo doesn't cost that much though, and with the delux barn / coop you get an automated system for feeding, so it's good to just have the hay in the silo.

The silos share a pooled max capacity, each additional constructed silo increasing the total capacity of the pool by 240. You can build them wherever, they don't have to be grouped together or near the buildings they feed... although you lose out on aesthetic points.
