(also I'm a little disheartened at how many people dislike Haley)
Hes just missunderstood and feels left out. He lives in the basement, and likes to do programming but noone takes him seriously with it. He spends his time in his room doing the things that he likes. He just feels like his stepsister maru gets all the attention and affection. He just wants some love. Give him love damnit ;-;
I don't really 'hate' any of the characters, despite what I have to say about Morris. I think he's actually a bit of an idiot/corporate pyramid fool, though, because if you go the Joja route, he gets all excited over his success because there's a promotion in it for him. It just kind of reminds me of the nonsense that they used to put kids through in elementary school where you felt like a loser if you couldn't scam your neighbors/relatives/etc. into buying stuff from the fundraising catalog so you could get prizes.
Because people don't assume stereotypes, like assuming Pam is abusive because white trailer trash. There's literally no proof. The scene with the messy trailer? I think her anger was somewhat justified in that scene. I don't want people coming into my house, and then "help" me out of pity. I don't want to be badger by my daughter about the choices I make with my body. I understand where Penny is coming from, but it doesn't seem like Pam is less actually abusive and more like someone who drowns their sorrows in alcohol...she even apologizes to the players, signifying she has more tact than you'd expect. Rather, it can be said that Pam and Penny get into fights because Penny worries about her mother's health. I sympathize, but this reeks suspiciously of backseat driving. Normally, kids in my country wouldn't scold our parents for something that doesn't really "affect" anyone. Penny says it affects her, but what can she do, force her mother to be a mother? The same mother that puts a roof over her head, who goes to work every single day so that the player can get a ride to Calico desert? The same person who apologizes to the player for fighting with their daughter in front of them?
I'll be honest, there's some missing variables, but it's safe to say that Pam is a non abusive alcoholic whose alcoholism strains her relationship with Penny, but not to the point of abuse.
Yes Sebastian is my faveorite character (along side Linus) so i will defend him. =]
I gotta agree with you there, Pierre also comes on your door a couple of times, just to promote his business, and to talk thrash about joja.
I don't really agree with you on Haley and Alex though, but as i haven't really tried to get in relationships with any of them, i guess that makes sense.
Alex isn't bad at all. His ego is just a facade. He has issues because of some family stuff and that's made clear pretty early on when you start to become friends with him. And, anyway, even though he comes off as a bit shallow and obsessed with his bod at first, at least he's nice to the player character most of the time. Unlike other people... *cough* Haley *cough*.
I really never noticed Alex's "ego", to me he just seems a little... dense.
Yeah, he's a bit dense. He seems to have been made to fit the "dumb jock" stereotype on the surface. But, like other characters, there is more to him of course. I think he came across as egotistical to me because he spends an awful lot of time bragging about how awesome he is at sports when you first meet him. He even apologizes later for being so arrogant. He's just insecure and he's gone through a lot.
