Every time you gift a Single while married you have a chance of losing 30 Friendship Points with your spouse (1heart = 250 FP).

Yeah, that happens when you gift singles. I've heard that it helps if you make sure to give them a gift on the same day that you give the other person a gift. I haven't tested that out myself, but I always try to have a bunch of Alex's favorite stuff on hand just in case I mess up somehow. :/

wife not too happy about you potentially going after another. You can freely gift on birthdays though. That's the best way to get hearts from singles that you never pursuied

Didn't know that, cool! I'd still like to be friends with some of the singles, like Sebastian and Elliott, but I didn't want my spouse getting all jealous. Thanks for the tip. ^_^

It doesn't matter. Talking to your spouse every day nets you 20 affection each time, giving them something simple they like is more than enough to offset them getting upset with you for gifting to a single NPC.

I just talk to Penny, kiss her and give her a salad each day and have never been lower than 13 hearts nomatter how suspicious she gets. =D

Actually, I got slammed by Abby (wife) for giving Haley (girlfriend) a pink cake on her birthday.
The whole 'I heard you gave etc etc.. ' speech.

I also thought birthday gifts were harmless until that happened. No big though, everything's easy to smooth over :)

I hate all violence, it makes me wanna hurt someone! haha... just kidding.
This game seems to be about emotions and relationships. Without all emotions it would feel lacking or empty. If you told an artist they couldn't use blue paint at all.. even to mix other colors, would anyone appreciate their art?

Apart from the one decision on who to marry from the singles available, which may even get changed in a later update in that you can divorce ... you are still able to do anything else, including giving bouquets and raising the singles to 10 hearts after you get married.
