In search of a fishing mod...

Specifically, one that causes instant fishing success. Bonus points if it also causes instant treasure success on casts that have treasure. However, it can't require external tools like SMAPI that force you to launch from a secondary EXE.

You can't mod fishing without the smapi thing since you change the gameplay of the game or something, by what I understand. Why exactly is it too much effort for you to train fishing by yourself? Asking because fishing really isn't that hard.

why do you not want to use SMAPI? if it's because it can't use the steam overlay, there's a fix for that.

theres a mod that make fishing easier..not instant success though but it helps. you simply download a modded fish data file and replace the original one.

I don't think achievements have anything to do with it but yes, maybe. There are so many people complaining about how "fishing is too hard", though. Most of them don't even try at all...

is that such a bad thing? i can understand the fishing part of stardew isn't for everybody, some like it some find it boring, personally i've avoided it until now since its the last thing left to do and after i looked into it, well you need to know the right weather, season, area and time to get which fish, its a real big "better have the wiki open" part of the game in my opinion.

besides, i'd consider cheating your way to an achivement an achivement itself, since you have to do a lot of stuff to get the fish anyway, so what if you skip the mini game?, i don't want to spent hours upon hours playing the same mini game and i've no idea what person would.

I really don't care if people cheat their achievements, but then there is no real achievement in getting them, if that person just wanted the hat they wouldn't have a problem using SMAPI.

The information on the wiki is also given in the game, on TV, and books, the wiki just compiles it.

Has instant fishing etc + a lot of other things that may break your immersion, depending on how you use them. But of course you can restrict yourself from using these other parts of the mod and just focus on instant-fishing.

Technically, it affects online records aka everyone. If found out, achievement cheaters can also be penalized and really not in good ways. If we should not cheat scoreboards, why should we cheat achievements? Cheating in single player is only fine if it's purely single player.

I don't really care myself but that's how it is. It's named "achievement" for a reason...

There is a easier fishing mod, here's the link http://community.playstarbound.com/threads/easier-fishing.107819/ in the mod there is another link to an easier version. While not instant it works, if you want to try something, go into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Stardew Valley\Content\Data and find "Fish.xnb", copy and paste it to your desktop, and delete the original and see what happens, if it crashes the game, just throw the copy back in.

Except there is. Why should you download a cheat that instantly grants you an achievement others worked for? As others have said, fishing gets easier with practice. I was one of those complainers, but I found the bridge to Joja Supermart to be the perfect training ground. So why should others be allowed to cheat achievements they didnt even try to earn? If they want to cheat in a singleplayer game? More power to them if they give up so easily at getting good at a game, but they should use a cheat that disables earning achievements when it's active because, you know, it's cheating. But it's fine, when I spot cheaters, I just report them and move on. : >

Why does it bother you so much though? achivements are personal things, (aside from achivements that require multiplayer) you know you earned it legitimately, why would you be annoyed and how somebody else earned it? it doesn't take away from you having gotten it yourself, sure people who cheat it haven't done it legitimately but they also know that they haven't actually achived it, so they don't get that feeling of actuallly acomplishing the task at hand.

If there is one type of achivement i would suggest people cheating on it would be those achivements in which you require far too much luck, ones that aren't any messure of personal skill but more just a time sink until the correct conditions happen around you with you not actually having done anything to influence it.

Also, even if they put in a system that disabled achivements when cheating, the whole idea would for some just be an extra step to work around and still cheat those achivements, my brother takes personal joy it getting past those sorts of systems more than actually getting the achivements itself, sometimes people just enjoy getting things in a way they were not supposed to.

I enjoy fishing? I've been doing it since the beginning, and it gets easier too. Plus you get a LOT of good stuff from treasure. That's like saying "I don't know who would wanna spend time farming", c'mon lol.

o.o fishing is my favorite part of this game, why cheat it? it did take me a bit, but then it became fun as hell :P
