My tree is on fire, what do I do!?

I walked up to my tree and it was smoking with coal beneath it. Im assuming it was lightning, but I'm not sure. is there anything i can do to fix/prevent this from happening?

lightning rod help. but the tree will turn back to normal after couple days.

When fruit trees are struck by lightning they become charred- they'll produce coal instead of fruit for a few days.

They return to normal after about a week, but it's an interesting way to get coal.
