Quality Crops Bundle Help
I seriously need help doing the quality crops bundle, because when I tried doing it, it was the start of summer, so I got a whole bunch of money from mining and fishing, then I bought 40 melon seeds and 40 quality fertilizer, and only one of the melons was silver starred! not even a golden one.

just.need.more.luck.

seriously, it's all about luck + large amount of crops to increase chance. I went for pumpkin instead of melon, and got it fairly easy, considering I have like ~ 300 slots for growing.

also, dont rush for it, considering you are still have to make money from other sources.

I have expanded my farm, I'm only asking how do I do it cause I only have two rooms left in the community center, and I really want that greenhouse.

well, again, luck, and a lot of crop to increase chance. I finished that bundle in 2nd year because, like you, I couldnt get enough gold quality item in 1st year. You still have fall to try out pumpkin tho, assuming you already finished parsnip and corn.

Farming skill level helps. I haven't checked the code to confirm, but I would think that any food that gives a farm boost would potentially improve the quality of the harvest. The question is when to use it: when first putting down the seed, or when harvesting.

Not saving/exiting, and reloading my save hasn't yet proved to me that the quality of the crop will change when you harvest.

Darn't, also farming level is the hardest one to level up just cause of how long it takes to grow crops, I mean I'm farming level 5 while all my other stats are levels 7 through 9.

the wiki isn't very informative in this matter (at least, the data isn't in an intuitive place that I could find) Not sure what to recommend to level farming faster. Straight speed (xp/day) probably has a higher cost, which would limit the number you could afford to buy. But cheaper crops mean you can buy/plant/grow more overall... And that's to say nothing of the consideration to give profitability. Ultimately, the more money you have, the more crops you plant, so focusing on the most profit/day isn't necessarily the bad way to level farming.

But the wiki did imply that fertilizer had to be used before planting the seed, in order to get its benefit. I would recommend using any farm boosts to plant seeds, as the quality of the crop is probably fixed early on. However, since the farm boost lasts a good while, you can probably take it before you harvest, then harvest and immediately plant the seeds before the boost wears out.

Hello mate, Did u put the fertilizer before you plant or u put it after u plant the seed.

that might be the issue? And i'm on my first run through going into 2nd year. (1st year winter ATM)

i manage to complete the melon and pumpkin. so 1 more item for Quality Crops Bundle to finish.

Can't wait to be able to plant melon all season as i feel its one of the best crop for putting into preserve jar and keg =D cheers/

I found the page with the xp (farm xp is based on the value of the crop)
http://stardewvalleywiki.com/Skills#Farming

It still doesn't show xp/day, though, so I'll calculate it myself and post ASAP.

I dont think farming skill would increase chance to get quality crop at all, as I was able to get gold star crops now and then, but the amount of them seem not link with level. As I mentioned my farm has ~ 300 farming slot, and I have quality fertilizer all over them. When harvesting, I got around 150 ~ 190 gold star one, which roughly around 50 to 60%, as suggested when using quality fertilizer. I'm maxing out at farming, so it either doesnt affect the corp quality, or the affect is not that noticeable.
