Report a translation problem
It is just not coming back automatically. In my case I lost when riding into the town while there was an event.
So while it can become a hassle, it is possible.
I've done that before as well. Used to wonder where the horse was. If you go into events, you jump off automatically and enter the cutscene. However, every time I went to the screen just before where I entered to trigger the event, the horse would still be there at the very edge, almost not visible.
